With all the news of the 2013 Traditionals breaking, I took the opportunity to go guitar shopping.
Yesterday in between guitar shopping I sold my Telecaster and Stratocaster for $1700 combined. I've come to realize I am a Les paul guy.
That left me with 2 Les Pauls at home, my wife said I needed a 3rd guitar for Feng Shui reasons.
She did not have to twist my arm hard.
I went back and tried all the Les Pauls in the store, R0, R7, Traditional 1960 Goldtop, Les Paul Traditional, Traditional Premium Plus?, Traditional Plus, and I threw in a 61 SG RI, and a New Tele for good measure.
None of them totally blew me away, they did not have any decent amps there, I finally found a Blackstar HT40 that served the purpose.
I kept running through all the guitars and the one that seemed the best was a 2012 Gibson Les Paul Traditional Plus in Chicago Blue.
It was marked down on Closeout for $1599, they would not honor my 15% coupon on top of the closeout.
After 8% sales tax I walked out with the guitar for $1727, not a screaming deal, but a very good deal on a Brand New Les Paul that looks, plays, and sounds really nice.
I know the reason I am not totally blown away by it yet is I have not restrung it with 9-42s, but it plays great with the 10-46s.
More reviews after my string swap.
