Just got my hand on this last night, a 2008 Gibson SG 61 reissue, got it for $1399 with case/leather strap/new set of strings.

the action was a little high but it has been sitting in the local shop for over a year and a half so the string were in need of replacement, as i was changing the string anyway i figured id give the frets a polish and aply some fretboard oil and wipe the whole thing down. Shes a beaut. Plays great with the lower action, the 57s sound pretty damn good with my orange. This is my first actual Gibson so im really exited about it haha.

they sound pretty good to me, i LOVE the stock pups in my agile and they have about the same sound as these 57s, the 57s have a little more/looser bass an less output but still sound great to me, been rocking Sabbath riffs and The sword riffs all day haha

HNGD man! I'm getting more and more into SG's after I installed a JP wiring diagram (not a pre-wired kit: pain in the ass!) and Sheptone BK signatures into a customer's SG. It was so fat and nasty that I almost asked if I could buy it on the spot once I finished haha.

Yeah, nice sg. I used to have a 61 ri yrs ago and I Wally miss it. The 57 classics sound crisp in those!

Nice!!! I play an assortment of SGs, including a few '61s. The neck on the '61 is pretty thin. Mine needs slight truss rod tweaks every so often, to keep the neck straight and the action ultra low. I also found that the necks are much more stable when strung with thicker string. Definitely my go to guitar.

The only thing I don't car for on an SG is the heel transition. I don't understand that little step/shelf. Smooth that shit out yo...

I love SG's.

I had one and traded it away. :doh:

It sounded sooooo good. :inlove:

been looking at getting an SG someday...wanted the VOS or Angus Young...and this 61 reissue is a way better deal than the aforementioned 2 gits

I've had no bites on selling my 61 Reissue, either here or on St Louis Craigs List.......

congrats =0

have one from 87 i think, pickups are great, tends to neck dive but it sounds and plays most tastily

Nice!!! Must admit the gas for me began after seeing the bogner blue pedal demo..then the red. Damn that sound got me hooked more than crack, doesn't help I listen to acdc either :D

Always wanted one of these. One day, I will own one as well. . .
