Picked up this strat head GMW about 7 years ago. Had Lee do a makeover - switched body from swamp ash to alder, schaller to OFR. Looks amazing and sounds killer!

So, so nice... what is it that makes me instantly fall in love with red Super Strats, especially with black pickguards... Congrats!! Lee does do awesome work!!

That looks great, congrats.
Your post made me think, at what point is it an upgrade/customization and at what point is it a new guitar? Nothing to base it on other than gut feel, but seems like a new body makes it’s a new guitar.

Yeah, I hear what you're saying...perhaps maybe half NGD? I guess it depends on what "body part" is more important to you - body or neck ;)

yeah, what became of the swamp ash body?

I have them - I disassembled it before sending it to Lee- actually, I was getting ready to post the body, schaller floyd and pick guard for sale.

^This. Once I saw Brad Gillis with Ozzy I had to mod my old red Ibanez Blazer with Double Eagle tremolo (Floyd knockoff) and black pickguard. And I'll admit it, Paul Dean's red Strat looked cool too.

And I was going to say I love Brad Gillis’ red 62 Strat and the OP’s post reminds me of it.

Brad's guitar was actually the inspiration for this

That's freakin' awesome!! I loved his tone on Dawn Patrol, then when Speak of the Devil came out, I was just blown away. Huge early influence!

Absolutely - a lot of people dog him and say that he just does dive bombs and pull ups with the floyd but the guy can freakin play!
