Pics to come... got it from fellow forumite ttosh - it's a small world, he's in Tulsa too. Met him at lunch, got the guitar (thanks dude, you rock!) and was up pretty late last night getting it set to my specs which are:

1) have to be able to pull back a 4th (from open G string to B) on the trem

2) neck has to be around .009 or so relief (yes, I like my necks super straight)

3) incredibly low action

Guitar was able to do all three, going to gig with it tonight. It plays as well as my orange so-cal, so I'm guessing that the overal quality on these guitars is really good. My 2008 USA strat was a nice guitar, but these necks are really really good... If you're into the floyd/strat thing, this USA Charvel series is a super deal.

Now to see what the next custom color is... I think I may collect them. Or buy a black so-cal and have it refinned yellow or white. :)

Pete

 The green one is my favorite..... would love to have one myself.

congrats

ttosh bought that Charvel from me. I picked the better of the two green ones I had when I sent it to ttosh. I hope you dig it man. I love my candy tangerine one.

Congrats Pete! You should do a vid with both So-Cals and the Axe FX.

I tried one of these new Charvels a few weeks ago and couldn't pull the whammy bar up anymore than a little less than a whole step. But I'm a total bafoon when it comes to Floyds. I guess its all about how you set it up.

It's a great guitar, I love it. Any idea on what the next custom color is going to be?

Yeah, when I got it it had zero pull up. You have to set the floyd up to tilt forward a little bit. You'd be surprised how much pullup you get from just a little forward angle!

nice! i hope they come out with a shocking pink, lochness green, or robin's egg blue with a maple board. cheesy? yes, but i'll have to pull the trigger on one

No, no hints even. But....... I have been told that all the colors have been shown already and they are just going to rotate them to different models.

Congrats on a great guitar Pete and a great transaction. Kudo to Chubtone also who is awesome to do business with. I just recently got a Suhr Pro S1 guitar and had to make some decisions on what to keep. Had to keep the Suhr it just fit me so well. The Charvel is a great guitar and the Candy green is drop dead georgous.

Plus since Pete is local I can always visit it.

LOve my So-Cal, for what I paid it is a steal in today's market.

Last two guitars I bought from forumites (this one, and the EJ from Ratter) were guitars sold to fund Suhr purchases.

Crap, something NEW to check out now when I have the resources... dangit! :)

Go for it Pete. The Suhr Pro Series kick ass. The S2 and the S6 are the ones I've liked that I've played.

Not that much, really. I have several ibanez and other guitars with the back rout, I don't miss it on these guitars.

Here's a pic of how much tilt - the red line is flat. This gets me 4 frets of pullup on the G string - I can pull a G harmonic up to B.

That is pretty much the set-up Curt gave me on my So-Cal, the boy knows his Charvels
