Warning: Hold on to your loafers! Gaudy 90's pastel graphics below!
I had the opportunity to purchase one of my holy grails last week. it was a tough financial choice sine I had to dip into my savings a little, but overall it was a great deal so I had to go for it. I snagged a somewhat rare and very collectable Ibanez JPM 100 P2 John Petrucci signature model. It is in impeccable condition. Barely any play wear at all, and zero fretwear.
I am not into the thin neck, shredder, trem thing much anymore. I have grown to love huge necks and stop tails, but this was something I have always wanted.
After taking it out of its case for the first time, I realized I had to do a lot of setup work to do. The action was pretty horrendous. The neck had a HUGE shim in it that was wayyy to big. It was also in the middle of the neck pocket so there was a large visible gap in between the neck and the neck pocket. So while I was putting on my usual D'addario 10's that I use on my 25.5 scae fiddles, I took out the shim and re attached the neck. After stringing it up and tuning it and adjusting the truss, I realized it did need a shim, but one of half the size. I dropped in a thinner shim, tuned it back up and bam, it plays great! I'm not really into the Ibanez thing like I used to be, but this one is really special. It is going nowhere! I have wanted one ever since I first saw one.
