NGD Les Paul Special Vid Clip & MV mod amp

Hey all,

Here's a video of my recently acquired axe from last nights trade with Steve (39stripes) and my Heritage Colonial with the Pre MV mod, this amp sounds a lot cleaner than it actually is because of the low outputs from the P100's in this guitar. When the gain cranks a bit more that's turning on a timmy pedal with a bit of volume boost and just a tad of grind.

That amp does have a beautiful, natural tone. One day you need to do a clip with it wide open on the gain front with a pretty hot guitar. People may chime in and say you need to ditch the P-100's for authentic P-90's but don't be in a hurry to do so. I've owned one of those LP specials before and the P-90's I put in only sounded only a little better compared to a lot more noise.

Thanks man, I love this thing it's just got a killer sound to it, a lot more magic in person too. I know I need to light it up a bit more, I'll try and grab a clip in a few more days with something hotter.

You know I was thinking the same thing about the P100's whats really weird about them is they are actually incredibly LOW output man, I swear my Suhr single coils seem to be louder dude it's insane! I don't plan on ditching them, they are actually eqed pretty flat but if your raise them up man they sound pretty damn sweet to me, and the guitar is so DAMN quite I don't see any reason to throw in real "P90's" besides I like being different, I'm not all about chasing someone elses tone just the sounds in my head, and experimenting with new tones that sound good regardless of what they might be.

Thanks I totally dig this amp as well, it's just got a killer sound to it. I'm actually suprised how much gain I can get by pushing it with a bit hotter pickups it's pretty freggin nuts, were not talking like metal or anything but not to far off from vanhalen levels of gain, but hell if I'm cranking it loud enough to get the full level of power tube distortion haha.

Where did you get the Mod done?

I have a Colonial and that Mod seems to really help the amp open up at reasonable volumes.

Hey man,

A local tech did it in Clearwater, I think the website is triodeamplification.com - it's a really easy mod that pretty much any tech should be able to do, it's just a Pre Phase inverter Master Volume, I think he said he literally like moved one wire, added a wire and added a pot. With this amp the whole is already drilled right in the chassis under the word "Colonial" unfortunately my amp now mostly says Colon... but I figure it just fits in with Friedmans mods haha.

Now that I look at the date, it is sorta freakin' bizarre...that's what you get for posting a great vid though. I really do like that neck pickup!

I actually traded a PRS single cut trem I wasn't using for it, my guitar had some beat on it, and this is a 92 in a rare color that is actually in great shape, plus it has obviously that upgrade and locking tone pros bridge and locking grover mini tuners... great axe!

Close I'm 6'7"ish probably 6'6" barefoot but I haven't measured in a long time... when it gets to the point where you don't fit in normal cars or clothes... you just realize your no longer tall, but to fucking big...
