Maple with a volute?

Yup. I think all 79 std models are maple with volute.. I know some don't care for the volute but it doesn't bother me at all. I really like this year of LP. The necks are somewhat slim, but still beefy. The stock pickups are pretty nice too,T tops.

I don't need a fancy top or custom model. I got a GREAT deal on this one and it's exactly what I like! This one weighs right at ten pounds. My other 79 weighs almost 12 and that's fine with me too!

Hell yeah. I love my '80 maple-necked, voluted gold top. The neck is awesome. Meatier than my SG-X but isn't cumbersome. Mine has fresh frets that are killer. The trapezoids have just a touch of aging to give it an awesome cosmetic mojo.

Congrats. I would be using the t-top pickups in my 73 lp custom if they didn't squeal so much, someday I may get to wax potting them....

Thanks! My T tops don't squeal at all.. They are not as tight as I would like at times, but great tone!
