I decided that I needed another Floyd Rose equipped guitar in the stable- as I had gotten rid of all of my FR guitars. After an hour of trying out everything in my local GC that had a locking trem, this Jackson Adrian Smith model came home with me. What a great mid priced guitar. You simply cannot beat this guitar for the $499 they are asking for it. The factory setup was just spot on, and the neck is pure butter to play on. It's basically a killer San Dimas for half the price.

Nice, I like it!! Do those come in a maple fingerboard too? How is the quality of the FR...

Yes, they also offer them with a maple board and a black guard. I've come to realize over the years that I prefer to have a rosewood board. The FR is a FR Special. Which are very hit or miss. I got lucky with this one as it seems to be a solid unit. It doesn't seem to suffer the mushy sound of some of the cheap units.

Are those abalone dots on the fretboard? If so, nice touch!

Congrats! I've been on the fence abt getting this or an LP type for my next guitar and still have a hard time deciding.

How is the stock bridge pickup btw, have you had a chance to play it loud already?

that's the sdx yes???? ........ have been hoping a maple one would come up for sale over here in NZ

How thin is the neck? I have been eying this guitar but am afraid it will have a really thin neck which I don't care for.

Also, does anybody know if an Original Floyd would drop right in?

Awesome ...!!! I would have figured $8-900 ish.

Are these made in Mexico ?

The stock bridge pickup isn't bad. I haven't had the chance to crank it through my 5153 yet, but it doesn't sound bad through my small home practice amp. I was thinking about putting in a DiMarzio Super Distortion like the high end model has. I'm gonna wait to play it at a practice through my 5153 before I make that call though. Yes, and OFR would drop right in. If I decide to replace the stock FR, I'll drop in a Gotoh- as I prefer them to the OFR. The guitar is made in India. To me, it has far better construction than many if the other Asian guitars that I have played. The neck it thin, but not Ibanez wizard thin. I'd say slightly thinner than a standard Fender Strat neck.

Mine was a lemon - strings slid off the board edges, and the trem would get hung up due to poor routing in the cavity - the bar receptacle rubbed the wood (that sounded BAD!).

Good luck with yours - they are nice for the money if you got one with good QC.
