2006 David Thomas Mcnaught G5. Set Thru neck,Black Limba(Korina)Neck and Body, Flamed Koa top, Stainless frets. Got it yesterday unsure of the pickups, the single coils have to go(super noisy and low output). Bridge pickup sounds good not sure what it is PAF/JB. Neck is fatter than I'm used to, but it's wicked fast. It's heavier than I'm use to, I've played composite guitars(Parkers and Brian Moore MC/1's) for the last 12 years,so I've become a real pussy. This guitar being all wood just crushes the my plastic guitars, but I think most wood guitars could. The plastic guitars really had an edge playability wise, on all the wood guitars I've tried until this one(and hopefully my Suhr Modern that I've ordered). This guitar was is like $5k new which seems like a lot, but the Brian Moore MC/1's were $6K plus new ,even Parkers are $3K up to $10k.

Sweet. Koa is good! What are your Modern specs?

I just got a Modern with the same woods. You will love it. With the McNaught you should cover a lot of ground. Congrats! That Mcnaught is stunning by the way.

WOW......look how nicely that top grain matches up! Sweeeeeeeeeeet........ CONGRAT's on your score.

Wowza that is gorgeous! I love the "V" in the grain that goes right up to the horns on both sides, looks like mother nature wanted that piece of koa to be a strat-shaped guitar! :D Awesome stuff man, that fretboard looks killer too!

Thanks guys, after a few hours with this I would definately custom order a 24 fret version of this if I could afford it. I swapped out the neck pickup with a SD Hot Rail, not my first choice but I had some Best Buy gift cards, and that's the only single coil they had(I can't believe I'm buying guitar parts at BestBuy). It actually sounds great, but I'm starting to think that the pickups have less effect than materials used to build the guitar. I tried multiple pickups in my Parkers and though the pickups should've sounded dramatically different they didn't. I discovered the bridge pickup says Gibson USA on the bottom, it sounds good but I hate Gibson so much that I'm thinking about swapping it out. I'm 32, married with a daughter should I let the hate for Gibson die? I don't know if I can do it.

Just scratch Gibson of of it and forget it's a Gibson if you like the way it sounds. ;)

Would be interested n comparison to the Modern when you get it. Two awesome guitars for sure!
