Hi all:

I don't see many Melancon guitars on the forum so I wanted to share. I don't post much but have been an avid reader of the RT for some time now.

A buddy of mine picked up a strat style Melancon about a month ago. Tried it and loved it so went on a search for one of my own. I noticed the same dealer he got his from also had a used T style Melancon for sale so I scooped it up. All I can say is that it is an excellent guitar with great build quality. The pickups are also great and surprisingly quiet (at least through the Axe FX)

Overall, a great guitar and couldn't be happier :D

Looks great! I haven't tried a Melancon but heard great things about them.

Congrats. Gerrards guitars are under the radar. He got rid of his employees a few years back because they weren't showing the passion that he has. He is only building approx 300 a year. I have a Custom Artist and it is every bit as good as my Suhr Moderns. The 10" radius is the best chording guitar I have played. The fret work is as good as any plek. The guitar resonates and has a very lively feel. Heres mine.

Very Nice!!!!

I love the 10" radius as well. My Music Man has the same and love how it feels. I initially was looking into a Suhr pro series but wanted to avoid a compound radius guitar. I like to have a flat radius across the whole neck and when I played my friend's Melancon, it was just a perfect fit. Yours is absolutely gorgeous :inlove:

Nice guitar, man. :) How are the big bends with that radius? Do they choke out all?

I need to go check some of his stuff out, being that I don't live too terribly far from him.

Not at all. The action can be very low with no buzz or choking.

Hi:

The only area where I get fretting out on bending is on the high E and B strings when bending up to the 19th fret. I e-mailed the dealer and he recommended raising the saddles for those strings a bit. I have to pick up an allen wrench and will try that. Apart from that, no issues anywhere else on the neck.

Here's a quick clip running through the various pickup selector positions. This is recorded direct to Garageband

I used the Trainwreck Amp sim on the Axe FX

Enjoy  and nevermind the sloppy playing.
