So.... I Had an RG657 MSK that I loved but the Super Wizard HP neck was just too thin for me.
I got my hands on a 1550M and I absolutely love the Wizard Prestige neck on that. Solid Blue doesn't bowl me over though , I'm into nice tops, so this past Sunday Monday
just surfing I fell on a guitar for sale that caught my eye. The RG2770QZA. A Japan only model that I had no idea existed.
https://ibanez.fandom.com/wiki/RG2770QZA
if it had a maple board it would 've been perfect but I have no 6's with rosewood besides my Les Paul so I figured what the hell.
I did some dancing with the sellers on price and got to a price I could live with.
There was a little corrosion on the pickups and the trem posts but besides that looked pretty Mint.
Well it arrived today. Overall, pretty happy, the guitar is in mint condition (minus stated above) no chips anywhere on the body, I believe it has the stock TZ/TV/AN
pickups in it which sound freaking amazing through my Splawn 1/2 stack (really good I'm very surprised) but that's not where my surprise is.
I basically bought this so I could have a nice Prestige with a figured top that has the thicker wider Wizard Prestige neck on it
Wrong
?

The Wizard HP Prestige feels like it falls somewhere between the the Wizard prestige and the Super Wizard HP.
Not bad by any means but I was hoping for the same feeling neck as on the 1550M . Doesn't suck, it is a bit thicker than the Super wizard HP
but not what I was expecting. Kind of feels like a JEM neck.
Either the Wiki is wrong or Fujigen is all over the place when making their necks.
Plays great but it does feel different so now I will set it up with my strings etc. and have to go back and forth and decide which one I want to keep (I don't need both).
I'm actually wondering if the neck on the 1550m could drop right in on to this one. that would solve everything
?

I've cleaned up the corrosion since I took these pics and now it looks really nice (like it didn't already ). Every time I think I've "found the one" with Ibanez ...... anyway Porn Time :)

If I remember correctly it should drop right in and fit perfect, try it!

Wow! That's a beauty and I also absolutely love the top on that! Congratulations!

well after playing the crap out of this thing for 2 days and getting it set up like I like it I think she's a keeper as is.
This neck profile seems to fall somewhere between the Super wizard HP and the Wizard Prestige. It's still a little thinner than
I'd like "ideally" but I'm zipping around the fret board pretty comfortably right now. :)
I was looking for something with 24 frets I could gig with to take the place of my USA Jackson soloists.
This and the 1550M accomplish that, this one maybe too nice to gig as well, it is a freaking gorgeous instrument and it has
zero body chips to it that are so commonplace on Ibanez RG's (the 1550M doesn't either for that matter)
but one thing I did learn by acquiring this guitar is this:
anyone that plays through a Splawn or a mid heavy amp that's similar should take a look at the Dimarzio ToneZone.
this guitar sounds amazing through my rig. It may be the combination of mahogany and Rosewood, but what ever it is it's working
I may yank the Crunchlab out of the 1550M and try one in that too :)
