I have been looking for an original floyd rose and a suitable neck to put on my now robbed of parts Frankenstrat. Found this fine example of an '82/'83 Kramer Pacer Special w/maple boarded beak neck locally and the deal went down. Bought it from the 2nd owner who had put some miles on it and tried to install an EMG 81 in it. Only problem was the pickup was too fat for the cavity so he put a super-thick pick up ring on it and a massive cardboard shim in the neck pocket to gain some clearance   I pulled the emg, installed the trusty 500T and performed a quick set up. Plays really well. No I'm torn; do I strip it and rebuild my Frankie with the "Jump" era neck or get it into full on playing condition and rock the cheesy 80's paint job??

haha love the body as is. it's so bad it's good. seriously thinking about trying a frankenstrat on the cheap while I look for a good used les paul. how does the 500t sound in that guitar?

I've got an sg with a 500t that I'm thinking about swapping out for a super distortion.

The 500T sounds pretty good in just about any guitar I've put it in and it was the only one I had laying around :D

Don't refinish it.That's an original graphic finish. Early Kramer graphics pull some good money believe it or not.

Oh no, definitely wasn't going to refinish it. I may just strip the parts and put them on another guitar and if I do would probably try to sell the body...For now, I'm gonna clean it up and play it

Find some slacks and a polyester shirt and your good to go! Seriously though, I would leave it alone.

That thing rocks. For God sakes don't refinish it or do anything to the paint job. So sick of god**** quilted maple tops that I'm about to puke. Cheesy graphics are where it's at.

Dude, that guitar effin rocks!!!! I would be completely berated by my buddies the first time I pulled it out but man, would I rock that mutha!!!! Killer!!!!!

Thanks for the "support" fellas. I hope to have it back together for my gig Saturday night. I can see the other guitar player now, face in palm   I spent the better part of the evening cleaning 20 years worth of nasty shit off the neck. I had a thread on here over the summer with an ebmm evh I scored with some funk on the neck. Fortunately, this one is not as bad. The finish was off the back of the neck so I sanded the clear-coat fret board as well and oiled her up. I also uncovered some dings and wear on the frets in the cowboy cord location but it didn't appear to effect the play-ability...

Yeppers,
I think that old girl is looking good.
Leave her alone and enjoy in good health.
