Hey Guys!

Here's something a little rare around here. I promise there will be not talk about PWE EH and Bogner Shiva in this thread!

I thought I would take the time to give in a good word for Ted Stevenson and post a small review of my new PWE Future 6. This is my very first custom guitar and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

The specs are as follow:

Undersized body shape
Alder body and Flamed Maple Top with Natural bindings
Quartersawn 25.5'' Maple neck
C neck profile
16'' Radius Maple fingerboard
Abalone dot inlays
24 Jescar "6105 style" stainless steel frets
Gotoh Floyd Rose
Ted's Custom PWE hand wound pickups.
Blower Switch
Tremol-No
Hip-Shot locking tuners

Here's a few pictures before the review :

Fit and Finish:
Everything on it is as immaculate as it can get. The body is polished to a high gloss finish. The flaming on that maple top is gorgeous and detailed. It has that deep 3D quality to it. Looking at it from different angles makes it look like it's got a life on its own. The natural binding adds that touch of class to the instrument that I love. I wasn't sure about the shade of purple I'd want on the guitar but I am seriously impressed by what Ted came up with. It's not too flashy and not too subdued, it looks just right! The rolled off edges really make this guitar feel like an old friend right out of the case.

Playability:
My Stevenson guitar was my reference and Ted improved on it. The neck is amazingly comfortable to play and the stainless steel frets make playing this guitar an absolute breeze. The action is low just like I like it and there's nothing fretting out and no buzz anywhere. Ted's neck joint doesn't get in the way even all the way up the neck. I have small hands and I don't even feel it no matter where I play. The Gotoh Floyd is extremely stable and very smooth to operate. The Blower switch and the Tremol-No add that extra bit of versatility.

Tone:
I wasn't sure what to expect regarding the tone. Earlier on in the build I had very specific ideas in mind as to what I wanted the guitar to sound like and eventually decided to let Ted do his magic and simply told him to give me his most versatile combination. I'm glad I did... I've never heard a guitar like this before. The tone is wide open and rich with a lot of attitude and clarity. It cleans up better than any guitar I've ever played. It delivers in spades from cleans to the chugga stuff, I'm extremely satisfied. The pickups are quite low output. I measured about 10.6K for the bridge and about 7K for the single and Neck. I'm strongly considering ripping out the Bardens in my Stevenson and getting Ted to make me some custom wound pickups instead. I find Ted's pickups just sound better.

Overall:
I've played many different boutique guitars that were fantastic but for me, a PWE guitar built by Ted Stevenson is where it's at for me. I've repeated myself several times over the years but there's nothing to me that comes close to what Ted builds in terms of tone, playability, mojo and build quality.

I like it! Ted is doing some great stuff under the radar. Congrats on the new axe.

Is there any relationship to this brand and Tyler guitars? Headstocks are the same aren't they??

I agree, Ted's quality and service is second to none.
