I actually got my hands on this one a few months ago, but it was in a state of neglect and I´ve been bringing it up to speed again an hour here and an hour there. Anyway, this is a California Pro which was a limited run back in 1989. They supposedly made 100 of them, even if there´s no documentation that they ever even reached 50, and this one is #3.
I gave it a full fret job, a new pickguard, a new Floyd and (since I already had one just like it, #43) a different set of pickups/electronics instead of the stock EMGs. Keeping with the 1989 vibe I got some NOS Ultrasonics from Ebay, which briefly were the hot choice for stacked singles back in those days. Valley Arts never used them, but guys like Tom Anderson and Zion used them in just about everything for a few years.
This is sort of a semi-prototype. It has a regular serial number instead of the California Pro number and came with a Takeuchi instead of the Schaller they normally have.
Sorry for the blurry pic, I´ll get some better ones.
