Just built a new guitar this weekend. It's a Mahogany body guitar w/ gloss poly Tobacco burst with natural binding around the neck. Neck is a Warmoth Pro standard thin with 6105 frets, schaller locking tuners, goncalo alves neck, and pao ferro fingerboard. The pickups are a Bareknuckle Rebel Yell set.

The guitar is a replacement for my Heritage Les Paul, as I just love having a "tummy cut" in my guitars. It definitely is more 'me' than a Les Paul. It has tone for days! I love this guitar. It's quickly becoming one of my favorites. It does all sorts of music really well!!!

It does...but it has some punch and growl too. It's got just the right amount of top end.

Awesome looking guitar! Tell me about the bridge please, if you don't mind...haven't seen a wrap-around like that before? And how do you contrast the sound to your LP? Killer build man!

Thanks a lot man. The bridge is a Gotoh 510 bridge. I didn't know how I'd like it at first, but after it's all strung up I really really dig it. It's like the PRS style bridge but has the tune-o-matic option to it, which I LOVE! It's really nice because the studs can be locked down to height. It stays in tune very well, and is really easy to change. I think it's a great design for a bridge.

Tonally, it sounds similar to my LP, but better, warmer, sweeter, and bigger! A lot of that tone is coming from the big mahogany body, and the goncalo alves neck. That neck is killer as it doesn't require / need a finish on it. It feels so damn good, and smooth. I did have a luthier to a fret job on the neck to level the frets, but I did the rest. It plays as good as my Suhr Pro Modern! The Rebel Yell pickups were definitely the right pickup for this guitar. I just love those pickups!

Eric, you realize my wife is going to hate you when I have to do a build and try some of this stuff out, right? :D

I think a lot of guy's wives hate me! :) So, no worries at all..comes with the territory!

I definitely love the Gotoh 510, and DEFINITELY love the Rebel Yells. One of my favorite pickups for sure! :)

To your ears, what would you liken the Rebel Yells to, as far as an SD or Dimarzio for comparison?

Neither man. It's in it's own league. If I had to say..it'd be more "SD" than Dimarzio, but that's really not a fair comparison either. I've never had pickups that sounded so ballsy and full when driving tons of gain...while retaining that articulation...yet when going to clean be so damn chimey and three dimensional.

Definitely in a league of their own by far.
