I received my latest Suhr Custom Modern today, and it is probably the best yet! It's the first one I've ordered with Aldrich pickups and I'm really diggin' them. For me personally, it's definitely the most exotic guitar I've ever owned...as far as woods go. The craftsmanship is excellent, just as it is on every other Suhr I own. I think I might have a new favorite! :D I haven't had a chance to take pics of it yet, so I just included the dealer pics, along with the specs.

One of sexiest Suhr guitar i've seen so far!! Congrats! I really dig the choice of woods....pau ferro has something in the upper mids that reminds me of maple but nicier!!!

Gorgeous! How does it sound? I have heard that Koa adds brightness. Is this true in comparison to your other Suhrs?

Thanks everyone for your comments. I just love everything about it.

mahogony, eh? what's the weight on this beast?!?

You know, I'm not really sure. I'll need to weigh it later on and I'll let you know. It doesn't feel too far off from my others really.

Well, it definitely sounds different from my other Suhrs, but I don't know how much that has to do with the pickups over all, rather than just the woods. See, I've got the SSH+/SSV combo on my other three Suhrs and this is my first experience with the Aldrichs. What I can tell you is that I notice they are a bit hotter; there is less bass in the sound and more emphasis on the highs (which might be also contributed to the Koa as you said); very focused sounding...definitely a brightness to it. IMO, this particular combonation of woods with these Aldrich pickups really lend itself well to lead playing...that's what this Suhr seems to excel at, even more than my other Moderns. I had a Modern once with a mahogany body and a quilt maple top with the SSH+/SSV combo that I never really cared that much for. It seems to me, that if you order a Modern with a mahogany body, that the Aldrich pickups are the way to go.

I much prefer the Aldrich with Mahogany body. They work xtremely well in alder as well.

Holy mother of GOD. That right there is one of the sexiest guitars Ive ever laid eyes on. The top and the back of the neck is unreal. Congrats brother!

On and grats on post 1k

I don't usually care for the moderns but that thing is fucking beautiful! Congratulations, sweet NGD indeed.
