My buddy (Little.b) and I only know of one boutiuqe store here in western Pa. And they are not nice to deal with. It is a long story, but we both had a very bad time there at the sametime. Plus they do not carry all the stuff that we are into.We have to drive 4-5 hours in any given direction. . Do any of you guy's face the same problem.Guitar center in monroeville can get a some of the stuff, but are not aloud to stock it,go figure. We have talked to them and they have listened and want to help, but there hands are tied by the big guy's.They are only 45 min.away.I know that there are very few store's around that carry everything but it would sure be nice to have something close. As far as I know Washington music (Chuck Levins)in Rockville Maryland is the nearest. Do any of you guy's have any sugestions....Thanks ;)

Yea, take a trip to Chicago :D

It looks like you have everything you need anyway!

Piano's N Stuff? Unless that's the place that gave you trouble?

Pianos N' Stuff and Swissvale Music each carry a handful of 'boutique' brands. I've been going to both of them for almost 25 years now (since long before I could drive!) and have never gotten anything but good help from both of them.

Chuck Levin's is a much bigger store than anything in Pittsburgh (other than Guitar Center), so it's definitely on another scale as far as that goes. And they have a wider variety of brands and a bigger stock, but that aside, I wouldn't say it's a better store than PNS or Swissvale.

You mentioned that GC 'wants to help' - what is it exactly that you need help with?

My suggestion is that if you live in SW PA that it is in your best interest to be on good terms with PNS and Swissvale because there's good guys at both who will treat you right.

I am lucky as I am about an hour from pretty much everything out there other then Diezel....thank god or I would be screwed

Like Ratter said, Pianos N Stuff and Swissavale music have pretty much enything you could want and I've never had ANY problems dealing with either of them. What brand of gear are you looking for?

Don't get me wrong there are times when I wish there were more brands around to look at but that's not the fault of the guys at these stores. They sell what they sell and do a good job of it. If you take a day trip to the greater DC area, you can hit at least 8 different stores and see a whole lot of stuff, but none of them will be any better in terms of service.

I too have always had great dealings with Pianos and Stuff and Swissvale Music. There's a little shop owned by Vic Da Pra (the 'burst guy) on Rt. 19 near Canonsburg that carries a few boutique items as well...I remember trying out some Carr amps there a few years back. Rainbow Music in State College carries some stuff is constantly adding new lines...PM me if you want an "in" with the owner.

Thanks guys. I know Jason very well at P-n-s have been going there for over twenty years and we are good friends have spent a lot of time and money there. They are a great bunch of guys.I have not been to vicks da pras in a very long time the man knows his les pauls, and was cool to deal with. I did not know that he was still around. I am very close to getting the new uber, can't waite.I did have a revision blue uber and loved the dirty side, it was that the clean channel was a little weak. I am lucky that I have got to know Josh at rebel amps and Brian at supersound music. These two guys are really cool to deal with. I did not and will not bash anybody even if it was a bad time at this other store, but it turned out for the best because it pushed us to Diezel products. All I was trying to say is that it would be nice to have a place like Rebel amps that carries stuff like Wizard, splawn, elmwood, engl, and some others. I was just trying to find out if you guys knew of any other places in this area.....

Ps in case you guys don;t know Guitar center can get Diezel...

That's what I was thinking......Piano's N Stuff. Isn't there also a Swissvale or something like that?

But who would buy them around here? As it is, more than half of the shops that were around in the 80s are either completely out of business or have switched to the Fender/Peavey ultra low end deal. I'm sure if the market was there for it, PNS and Swissvale would both be carrying more high end stuff.

Midnight Music went away. West Liberty Guitars went away....

Music Sweet Music (2 locations), Discount Music, Greensburg Professional...gone.... and both Hollowood and Pittsburgh Guitars ain't what they used to be...

There are a lot of people who would by this kind of equipment. I know a good many.

Most of us just shop online. I gave up on the local stores a while ago. Pianos N Stuff and Swissvale Music are both cool, but they are limited. They're also both great stores once you establish a relationship with someone at the store. I get the impression that they get a lot of tire kickers in.

It's a shame that we have to go on line, but that's ok.It's nice to get to know other people around the US or the world for that fact. :)

Let me guess....your area recently got a Guitar Center in the last few years.

You hit the nail right on the Head  It gets very frustrating and difficult to buy high end gear in Western PA.
Ive personally, as hard/n/heavy has also, had great dealings with all the stores in the area, but i dont know if it was something in the water that this guy drank that day or what, but we had a bad experience trying to work on an honest, open and up front deal with a dealer: we got the brunt of a major bad attitude that day. :(
Anyways,Id love to walk into a store here locally, and sit down and be able to try out an Engl,Splawn,Elmwood,Diezel,VHT,CAE,Wizard,Badcat ,etc..Would someone please bring a store here? :bash: :bash: :bash:
