The U.S. State Department has adopted a new policy under the Trump administration that effectively blocks U.S. embassies and outposts from flying Pride and Black Lives Matter flags, a report said Tuesday.

The Washington Free Beacon first reported that it obtained a copy of the "One Flag Policy" order, which permits only the American flag to be flown at U.S. facilities at home and abroad, with two notable exceptions: the Prisoner of War/Missing in Action (POW/MIA) emblem and the Wrongful Detainees Flag.

"Starting immediately, only the United States of America flag is authorized to be flown or displayed at U.S. facilities, both domestic and abroad, and featured in U.S. government content," the memo states, according to the outlet. "The flag of the United States of America united all Americans under the universal principles of justice, liberty, and democracy. These values, which are the bedrock of our great country, are shared by all American citizens, past and present."

I live in a state with a strong southern heritage and rarely see an individual with a confederate flag, let alone a State or Federal building. Maybe it's different where you live???

I retired from the fed…. Never seen a confederate flag flown at any government institution…. But in the USA, we have this thing called freedom of speech, so if somebody wants to fly the confederate flag they can. But that also means the same thing for blm, pride, Nazi’s, etc… just be prepared to deal with the consequences of your actions….

Just a good old boy. I don't think the confederate flag represents racism and I think it's BS myself that anyone get offended by it. To me it represents southern pride. I'm not from the south, but I wish I was. I fucking hate living in the North.

The main problem in this country is people that don't have enough to do and not enough going on in their lives. People with hobbies, jobs, interests and skills don't have the time to be offended by every little thing. I see this with my kid and his friends. They have the consciousness of people that seek out any little thing to be triggered or offended by.

One thing I notice is people that work hard labor jobs tend to be more of the mindset to not let all this little bullshit get to them.

Seems like too many people want to interpret freedom to mean absolution of consequences. And consequences doesn't always involve corporal punishment.

Example: Let's just say you own a restaurant and decide to fly a giant Nazi flag in from of it. You have the freedom to do that if you want without fear of being punished by gov't/law enforcement for it. But that doesn't save you from the consequences of no one visiting your establishment, it going under, and you lose all your investments.

Those aren't freedom of speech issues. Making violent threats is a crime as is causing a commotion that could cause an injury. You can't joke about bombs in an airport, either, but it has nothing to do with limitations of speech but rather what you are doing with that speech. The first amendment protects your freedom of thought and expression of that thought. Most crimes involve speech but that will not protect you from prosecution.
