I'm thinking of redoing my studio rig to incorporate a Suhr reload or two notes torpedo live. I think technology is to a point where this is the way to go. Has anyone else switched to going this route exclusively? Are you happy with the results?

I've found surprisingly good results playing into an AMT pedal at 12v directly into a DAW into quality IRs. Doesn't give the same satisfaction as my 100w halfstacks miked into preamps, but it is easily passable for how convenient it is.

VERY happy torpedo live user here.
Absolute game changer.

Much easier to get balanced, cranked, good tones in a much more controlled environment.

Also use the Ownhammer IRs instead of the stock ones.

Torpedo is an amazing product.....When coupled with better IRs, it is near greatness...

I am using the Ownhammer IRs. Man they sound good.

If you are just doing studio work (not live), I would suggest a Torpedo Studio.

$1595 - https://reverb.com/item/2484434-two-not ... tudio-used

I bought one of these... if it was used, I would be shocked. It was still sealed in the box.

I've just switched to using my iron ball through a torpedo live into studio monitors exclusively.
That's my home rig and I love it!

Thanks guys. I appreciate the responses. Your feedback makes it a much easier choice.

FWIW I am running my amps into the Suhr Reactive Load which then runs into a mixer and mix all my effects in parallel then out to a Matrix GT100FX and to two 2X12 or 4X12 cabs. So, it is basically a slaved stereo/re-amp rig. I absolutely love it for getting big, hi wattage amps to their sweet spot, but then be able to mix effects after the amp and then re-amp it with the Matrix power amp. I'm not using any IRs or software of any type, so it is different from what you are wanting to do, but the Suhr Reactive Load is an absolutely awesome piece of gear!!

Not using the Live, but I'm running a Hotone Heart Attack directly into my interface and using the Two Notes WOS III plugin for IRs. Badass little recording rig and gets sick recorded Recto tones for about $200 lol.

Yeah the Suhr Reactive Load is a fantastic piece of gear! I'm doing something similar, only taking it a step further: amps>Suhr RL>Helix (Ownhammer IR host)> stereo out to 2 Friedman ASM 12s. Sounds unbelievable.

Fractal is planning to release a load box with IR capability soon apparently. I'd expect it to be quite cool given their track record.

I previously owned a Torpedo Live and now have a Suhr Reactive Load. I prefer the Suhr as it does exactly what I need and it's very easy to use.
