No Phantom Power on the Axe-FX?

I see the jack on the back of the Axe, but what in the hell do I plug into it? I'm used to just plugging my 7 pin MIDI cable into my GCP and VH-4 and being done with it, do I need some special type of cable or something like that?

I be confused n stuff.

plug the power supply that normally powers the GCP into that phantom input jack on the axe.

once doing so your 7 pin midi cable will transmit that phantom power supply down to the footcontroller

I has no power supply for it :(

I see what you are saying tho.... it's basically a power "through" right?

Yup. You're taking the GCP adaptor, plugging it in, piggybacking it to the socket on the back of the Axe just above the 7 pinner, and then, with that adaptor in place, the 7 pinner then transmits the juice to the GCP. Kind of a weird thing, could have been engineered to just "phantom power" the GCP or any other pedal for that matter with the 7 pin jack like anything else.

Weird things at play with the internal workings and mind of Clifford Chase :scared:

PS - good luck progamming the GCP... Hope you're a patient man

If I have a patch what fucking button do I push to make it talk to the GP to be MIDI button 1? On my VH-4 I just hit store, is there a store button on the Axe somewhere? Meaning do I do it through some menu?

Hmmm, all I did was put the Axe and the GCP both on channel 1, and it's already calling presets flawlessly? Not gonna dive into the CC commands just yet, I need to be able to use this thing live this weekend though so I need to get patches worked out....

What parameters do you guys use to even out all the volumes for different patches? Are you using the Master on your poweramp for your global volume? Or the Output1 on the front of the Axe?

And I should be using the "level" on each amp model for the main volume correct? Not the "master" or is it vise versa?

Hope that questions made sense...

It's a process. Best thing I can advise is hitting the Fractal Support Forum under the MIDI section and getting into it. I've been on/off programming mine...I get a little frustrated and then just say f*ck it and play for 3 hours without programming my MIDI. It'll come, but this would be a task best suited for someone doing time or on meth. It takes a bit of hit and miss and refining. But I found my info and some uber useful step-by-steps on the Fractal site.

Careful over there though, they're a bit dry and nerdy. I'm not joking, I've been over there for 2 months with very few posts and the responses I get are like those from tea-tottling IB league schooled semantically correct grammar and literature specialists rather than solid players. NO diss, just an observation, bent bunch some of 'em. Couple cool cats too - the regulars here who've converted hold a presence there, but if it's not them, careful mate.

Peace,
V.

It's not that bad. I got a GCP last week and had it all set-up after an evening of "programming hell". ;)

This video should help a lot if you haven't seen it (it made things a lot easier for me):

Absolutely...frankly I think you're being too kind. Hell,I'll flat out say it: most of the people over there are flat-out jerks. I don't even post at that board anymore.

I'm thinking tea is for tottling, as in drinking with finger-fatigue and unsteadiness. And Ivy League is sports based whereas IB league is academically based.

Just sayin',
V.

PS - not to mention I wrote this last night after another marathon day of work... I was exhausted, and a touch bitter.

Well, there's some definite pseudo Tag-atarianism going on over there. Like, peeps, are y'all into music or are y'all into nerdy tech shit? As mentioned, I've got background in both, and carry myself with a lot of different peeps, many of which are sickeningly wealthy. RT and music is for me, a place and an outlet to let it all hang out, ya know? I assumed Fractal's site was going to be the same, but everyone over there is...um...well, kinda serious. :student:

the piece of shit doesn't have a headphone jack either!
