Dude from the Fractal Forum using his Axe II (not sure what amp model he's using)

Same clip but he adds a touch of the Dimension D Chorus model in the Axe II on this

Most guitar players LOVE tube amps ,for their feel and sound

Fractal says it sounds exactly like a tube amp , maybe better.

If most guitar players love tube amps and Fractal sounds Exactly like a tube amp ..and maybe better.

Then why are not MOST guitarist switching to fractal????

In this equation above one statement Must be untrue

agreed???

I don't know why anyone has to do the either/or thing. I love & have many great tube amps, but I also own & love the Axe II & KPA. Don't know why that's a problem for some.....

Recording has already been equaled by digital modelers. Recorded properly with the best cab IR's nobody can tell the difference between a top tier modeler & a tube amp. Friedman was fooled in a comparison between his BE100 & the Axe Fx model of one.

There is no question in my mind though that the majority in 5-10 years will also be using some form of digital modeler live.

5 years? Uh huh.

After owning a Kemper and trying an Axe FX II......I can honestly say that the $14.99 I spent for this program completely trumps either of them.....I mean, the Kemper has it's merits with being able to profile and is great no question......but such a simple rig setup with my interface....

BIAS_custom.jpg

Then again, it's all up to what you enjoy using and more power to those that work with what they have to make some great music!

Honestly, the demo posted here the other day sold me; I'm grabbing that today. :D

It's what I'm using. Just trying to iron out better I/O for it, but for now, it's easily replaced my POD HD. Wanna buy a POD?

The POD HD had maybe three models out of a dozen or so I used, the rest (IMO) sucked. BIAS doesn't have a single stinker in there, and despite it's flexibility, is way easier to configure.

There's no question in my mind that while there will be digital modelers obviously in 5-10 years, the days of the $2000+ modeler will quickly be over. No one's going to pay $2000 for an Axe-FX when something like BIAS can get 90% there for $20. That's my prediction. I could be wrong.

I'd rather have real amps, and supplement with the iPad I have anyway for poop computing, as well as using it for BIAS/JamUp.

thats pretty interesting!

The only negative I can see is too many parameters again (transformer types etc etc) which is the big negative on the axe-fx especially garbage like "b+ time constant" etc lol
That would great if it were a VST!

Stop the insanity when it comes to BIAS....I have it on my iPad.....it's cool......but get real  Yes, Rocco has a great demo of it, but ask him how close BIAS is to his Axe II as far as tones etc....

There is no question that we will have amazing sounding amp models & effects on our iPads in years to come.

Also for under $1000 we will have Line6 style floorboard modelers that will be on par with any tube amp & effect pedal out there. This will happen.....

There are a whole generation of kids/teens who are growing up with modelers & it's just a matter of time before the tube amp industry will be in serious trouble financially. Small & medium level touring bands cannot keep paying crazy shipping & setup fees for heavy tube amps/cabs when modelers can easily do the job.....this trend has already started.....no turning back now......

Yes "Rig Talk" will soon be occupied by silly old men talking about the good ol' days when valves ruled, and reminisce and compare 80s' YT clips! Wait....

Well.....I still have a couple of great tube amps and have no reason to get rid of them. There is just something about cranking that and enjoying the warm glory from it. Nothing can replace that. This app though has given me some nice freedom without carrying an amp with me to some gigs..and bloody hell....it sounds absolutely stunning!!!!!

A guy a couple posts above says he's owned a Kemper and used a AFXII, and BIAS trumps them both. I've yet to hear anyone say BIAS isn't better than a POD HD. Who needs to get real?

It's just an opinion, man. No need to be rude or snobby. Axes, Kempers, and PODs are all just computers too. Single purpose computers. It just takes someone developing algorithms that are better, and not being tied to the significant overhead of hardware. Then these expensive modelers die out.

And I still don't think they'll all kill real tube amps, at least not for awhile.

EDIT

Let me also clarify that I don't think BIAS is better than a Kemper or Axe, personally. But I do think it's better than a POD HD, and I think it's only a matter of time before software devs like Positive Grid catch up to Fractal and Kemper.

And you truly believe the BIAS APP beats a KPA & Axe Fx II for tones

edit......Ok dude I saw the edit to your post after I wrote my reply. It's all good :D

People have been fooled by modelers with forum mp3's since the POD 2.0 days (imo from memories past).

If that's your overall goal with the devices...

Yup. People have been doing the blind taste test since what, the late 90's? And some we're good enough to fool even then. Sound isn't necessarily the problem, it's the feel, dynamics, ease of use. I personally detest the Axe not because it I think it sounds crappy (it doesn't) but because I just personally hate interfaces like that.

I like real amps. Easy to use, easy to troubleshoot, and just fun to plug in a blare bad playing. :)

What I would like is something like the old Yamaha DG1000 preamp in terms of simplicity, with Axe/Kemper sound quality. That'd be awesome.
