Is the rocktron IntelliFlex the best non modler straight up effects unit out there?
Being as i have the need to change my gear more than my undies  An im not a pedal person other than controlling my amp/rack so the M13 is out of the question.. I recently got rid of my GSP1101 and am probably going to be purchasing a Herbert in the next few weeks.. Figured i would start looking at some choices for a rack effects unit ... just curios if i may have over looked anything ...

Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,

To straight up answer your question. "Is the rocktron IntelliFlex the best non modler straight up effects unit out there?" No.

While it's true that you can get great results without spending a Premium amount of $$$, THAT would be the exception, not the rule-- that, You usually get what you pay for. Using $4K guitar amp and $150 processor may yield an acceptable result, it may not-- depending on your expectations.

You want the most powerful, non-amp modeling, multi-effects processor available? Here it is...

Hmmm guess i phrased that wrong :-) How about the most affordable? lol say under1k ......

The Intellifex is certainly not the best, but it still holds up and is definitely a worthy (and affordable) addition to a rig.

For the price ($150 shipped and under), I don't think the Intellifex can be beat. It's also proven its reliability throughout the years, unlike other effects processors.

The long delay when switching presets on all the Eventide rack stuff I have tried made it useless for me (YMMV) to use live. I do not know if all of their stuff is that way.

The IntelliFlex I had 15 years ago had 0(zero) delay when changing presets. Very cool piece. I like the TC stuff better myself ..... just a matter of taste and needs. The G Major II is very cool...sounds great and cheap, used even more so.

The new approach Eventide has w/ their virtual rack presets, in the upper end line-- eliminates that load lag time.

I still have and love my BF Intellifex, but agree I like the TC stuff better, for most occasions.

You can't go wrong with the Intellifex for the sound/price. I find it more transparent than the G-Force I had, and the ease of use is a big plus for me! I've had mine for over a decade now & will most likely never get rid of it. All IMHO of course. ;)

Didn't they fix that in the Eclipse as well?

For the $150 range I like the Replifex the most.

Not sure re: the Eclipse... Cool, if they did.

I LOVE the Replifex for the analog feel and sound of their Flanger, but for Reverb, Chorus and Delay... I prefer the Intellifex, I actually would have both of those processors in a rig.

Ahh that was my next question ... for a few extra bucks is it worth moving into G Major2, I have an 11rack that i brought out for a few show but i really want to seperate the 2 rigs..(1home studio, 1 live)

Of the two, the GM2 would get my vote.

I agree. There were things I like about both and since I a cheap skate, I bought both instead of more expensive units. I still want an H8000 :D

+1 on the H8000 but out of my price range for now...

Thanks all for the recommendations ...

G Major 2 is an AWESOME unit for the price! It gets my vote.

Have any of you run any of the newer rocktron units, like the voodoo valve or the ultra hush units ? Oh, and there is a Rocktron xpression unit at $400.00 too.
Also there is the Gforce at $1500.00 and the Gmajor at $400.00 and the Gmajor II at $500.00.. what are the pros and cons for each unit ? I don't hear a lot of love for the Gforce unit. Is this due to the $1500.00 price tag? I need to buy another unit myself and this thread is not helping me resist.   Guitar center has a sale this week end only for like an additional 15 percent off.. Granted that is if they have any thing that is not already priced to high.

If you are running in series and are looking for transparency the Intellifex (Intellipitch) is the best route to go due to the true analog path in said units. The Intellifex doesn't fuck with your tone as long as you turn off the Hush. I currently own a TC GMII(as well as a bunch of the Rocktron units) and previously owned a G-Force and Eventide Eclipse. The Intellifex is more tranparent than any of these units. If you're not worried about transparency or are running in parallel then the other units offer more in terms of features but like I said, if you are running in series and don't want your dry tone fucked with the Intellifex is the best option. Oh...and you can pick them up for under $200 these days. Best bang for the buck available in my opinion.
