I found a Sassafras Strat body on eBay and was overcome with want. Neck will be dark Rosewood on roasted Maple from Musikraft. I'm gonna try a Gotoh 510 on this one. I'll probably go with a Cream body and Mint Green pg theme.

And just because I was reminded of this gem:

Hope it sounds as good as it's gonna look. Waiting on a MusiKraft roasted Maple/Dark Rosewood neck. Decided to try something different in the bridge.

This thing drank nitro like a sailor (wat?) but it looked very uniform and kind of rustic so I decided to just go with it and not cover the thing with a ton of nitro. I got a good final coat of no overspray or orange peel, very smooth. This pic is untouched after final spray and 2 weeks dry time. So I'm just going to polish with Medium-Fine-Swirl and call it done. I tried a spot under the pickguard and it got quite shiny and looked great. I bet some people would charge extra for this finish.

Completely dig that finish. Killer.
Thanks! It would have been a lot more work and another can of nitro and all so I would have even more work at the end with all the wet sanding/etc to get a perfectly smooth shiny finish. Which I still might not have achieved. A finish like this can have lots of little imperfections/swirls and it all works.

Looks terrific. My sassafras WG sounds great and is quite lightweight. This looks likes it’s gonna be bada$$!

I like to wire it somewhat neatly. I'm going to start with PRS 500k Vol, and Duncan 250k/500k tone. They all feel great, the PRS is nice and low friction but still solid and smooth. I'm going to try it with the PRS bright cap at first. 225P polyester film caps I've had for at least 15 years, 0.047uF and 0.033uF. I really have no idea what I'm supposed to use with this bridge pickup. The 1M resistor is an extra parallel load for positions 1 and 2 (neck and neck/middle). Position 3 is neck/bridge in parallel. And one of those banks on the switch 'assigns' which tone pot for each position. Since I like positions 2 and 4 to be chimey/quacky I gave them the 500k tone pot. Only positions 1 and 3 get the 250k pot. All subject to change one I hear it. Everything measures right, should work.

Here she is with a neck I took from a Warmoth build. Similar colors to the new neck. This was the tightest squeeze in the neck pocket I've ever encountered. Just put the last pickguard screw in, lots of setup to do.

And I got the neck for the Gilmour Strat. Gave it a rolled edge treatment, Truoil, and some fret work. Just needs a new nut. I threw an old reject nut on it for now. The shaft looks quartersawn but isn't really. This was a cheap ebay body, Stewmac nitro gloss black kit, no frills MusiKraft neck.

Cool builds! What vendor did the sass body come from? Interesting pickup config, I dig!

Thanks! The body was from ebay. Shipped from the notheast US, NY I think. As built it weighs 8 pounds which is right there where many Alder bodies would be. The black Gilmour Strat is 8.5 pounds, also an ebay body (Alder).

The pickup config was a late change. I don't have a P90 guitar so decided to try the Lollar Novel 90. The black Strat has a Fralin SP42 in the bridge with Lollar 64's in neck/middle and I have another Strat with the Lollar '64 Special set and the SP42 is a much better bridge pickup for me. So I'm looking forward to the Novel 90.

Love the finish. It looks alot like my olympic white strat thats been gigged in smokey bars for 20 years.

Why there is 1M resistor connecting the grounds?
I'm using 500k pots for the Novel 90 even though I think you can use 250k. So the 1M is a parallel load for the neck and middle pickups. Which is still higher than a 250k pot would be but I know from previous builds that I like 330k-400k.
