dude, just find an 80's duncan JB and I'm sure it'll be a blowtorch..Those old floyds are the shit, i still have mine i need to put back into my warmoth strat...does that neck have some girth too it, or is it those wussy thin one's? ; )...guitar overall looks f' ing tough! ...a lot of people may not know this by Ed had a lot of his guitars ( especialy the Kramers) stocked with those PU's. how do u know?, he gave one to friend of mine who was auditioning for Private Life the band he produced back then.

Neck is pretty beefy around the back contour but 1 & 5/8" at the nut.

The Distortion makes me think it will be too high output for my goal with this guitar, but if I can't get this one EVH sounding i will try the Distortion and get a little more metal with it \m/

Also a great pickup. That's what I put in my swamp ash musikraft. If I had to describe it, I'd say it's between a Duncan Distortion and a JB. Its eq is mellower than the Distortion. Doesn't have as much sizzle.

I thought it was a C5, but it turned out to be the Custom. The Custom seems like it has alot more mids than the C5. Yeah, both sound cool.

Try the 500k or 1meg pots before you go spending a lot of money on new pickups. I have a homemade "Frankie" with the '78/EVH pup and 500k pot, very well balanced tone, not muddy at all.

Yeah the Custom 5 has very little if any mids....it might be ok in a basswood guitar.
