And now for this week's second New Pedal Day! First, the Eventide Timefactor on Tuesday, now the Digitech Synth Wah.

Some pedals are tone suckers. This is a tone destroyer. In the best possible way. :D (The bypass is fine; it doesn't seem to have a major effect just from sitting in the chain.) It has seven functions: a pair of envelope filters, an auto wah, two very synthy-sounding filters, and a pair of proper synths. The tracking on the synth effects is very good (unlike the Boss Bass Synthesizer and much of the Line 6 Filter stuff) It handles bending and vibrato like a champ; it's not very glitchy at all, and when it is, it sounds cool rather than awkward. The resonant filters and synths do rob your picking of dynamics, but that's sorta expected. (On the plus side, you can shred through the synths with less effort than normal! Very, very cool.)

I was able to get cool industrial sounds, atmospheric textures and noise freakouts with ease. And the hour or so I spent jamming with the Synth Wah and Timefactor earlier generated a new Cure-meets-Isis flavored song that I'll have to work on later. Definitely a good purchase.

And it's been a long time since I've taken new gear pics, so here's most of my current guitar rig. Please excuse the crappy webcam shots; it's the built-in iSight on my MacBook Pro in questionable lighting.

Guitars (L to R: beater Ibanez acoustic, Fender American Standard Strat with Dimarzio Virtual Vintage Solo, LTD B305 bass, LTD EC1000 with Duncan Custom 5 and '59):

I only use NOS Aloe Vera to moisturize my Mesa.

Love the SynthWah for some good old fashioned sonic destruction
I used mine a fair amount in my bands, sometimes for a real short transition noise effect and also for song intros - looped with some delay and verb. You can do a fair amount of cool and creative stuff with this fairly inexpensive box. Definitely a great buy for those who like to get a little freaky and atmospheric now and then

The controls have a pretty wide range, I've discovered. Having my OD before the Synth Wah changes the response pretty significantly, especially on the synth and resonant filter settings. Combined with the FilterPong, ModDelay and BandDelay settings on the Timefactor, I can get some decidedly non-guitar sounding tones, and with the Sparkle Drive into my Stiletto's Red channel, I can get it to sound like a really nasty fuzz. It's a great box for groovy nastiness on-the-cheep.

how did you get the pics to show up backwards?
It's a webcam on his Macintosh Computer, so the pictures are reversed.

Yet for whatever reason the guitars showed up properly. Beats the hell out of me.
