For those of you that like what a good ole SD1 does to a stock Marshall, go get yourself a SD1 Waza. I have a 90s MIT SD1, an 86 MIJ SD1, and now this Waza SD1. They are all just different enough to own all 3 if you dig the flavor of the SD1+2203/4. The MIJ has more clarity/detail in the tone vs the MIT SD1, but they both suck the low end. Enter the Waza..it has 2 modes (Stock and Custom) and in stock form it sounds very close to my 86 version but has more lows, in Custom it sounds better than ANY modded version out there, and I've tried most of them. Way more clarity, and the low end is totally intact as well. It is slightly more open sounding but still retains that signature mid hump that we all know well when it comes to boosting a stock Marshall. This Waza SD is a really great pedal and is also quieter than any other version I've owned. I picked it up used so I can't say it's worth 150 new but when you consider what some of these pedals that are popular are going for nowadays(used VFE pedals for 250? No thanks) even 150 isn't too bad.
Anyway it's a great pedal to add if you have a stock 2203/4....and like the original SD1..

Great...like I needed another od..Thanks for the gas lol!

I picked up the Waza SD-1 recently for my 2203X. I think it retains a smidge more low end and clarity than the regular SD-1. I would say stock mode sounds best. The Custom mode with more bass/girth didn’t sound right to me and I preferred stock mode for metal, everything in the EQ just sounded in the right place (or maybe I’m just conditioned to know the typical SD-1 sound). I think the Custom setting is better suited for driving a cleanish tone into overdrive and getting a thicker sound with a Strat.

Hmmm. I will have to try one. I don't have any old Marshalld but it could come in handy.

I love the voicing of my SD-1 perhaps even more than my TS's, but I could never get past the fact that they have less output volume, and with hot pickups, they don't really reach unity gain even with the level cranked. Does the Custom mode on the Waza address this?

Big SD-1 fan here. The stock pedal is great, but my Keeley modded version is one of those "desert island" pedals for me. It's by far my favorite boost for modern metal tones (and I own like 30 different boost/OD/distortion pedals lol)

Haven't had a chance to try the Waza version but I'd love to compare it to my Keeley mod

I probably need to try a Waza or modded SD1. I have had two or three stock versions over the years and just don't get along with them even though most seem to love them with Marshall's.

Tried again this past weekend with a DSL and 6505+. It wasn't bad but seemed to be very bland compared to a Koko (my cold dead hands pedal), Cusack V2 Screamer, TS9, Timmy, Golden Pearl, or Suhr Eclipse. I don't know.

Should probably try one of these; Friggin rabbit holes. Of the ODs I've tried, I favor the SD805 the most.

I’ve had a few of the modded versions...Keeley, Analogman, 2 more that I forget and I’ve lifted the leg of one of the caps, to let more Bass in..they all have their cool features but to me the Waza has more gain, is clearer and tighter than those modded pedals. Gain is probably similar but my memory of those common modded SD1s are that they are way noisier. I have a great sounding 1986 SD1 and the stock mode in the Waza is damn near identical, and Custom mode adds more tight lows, clarity and gain. Pretty quiet too, quieter than any SD I’ve owned.
