I don’t tout gear unless I’m really blown away…..but these pickups deserve it. This R9 has had a load of pups. It’s a great piece of wood and none of them have sounded “bad” per se. It’s had run of the mill stuff, original Custombucker (which is great), BKP, Manlius, OX4, MCP, Duncan Custom Shop, Fralin, Wizz, etc.
I wanted to check out this Tyson Tone Lab “Precious and Grace” A4 set because I’m a big fan of Charlie Starr of Blackberry Smoke. I’m totally blown away by the clarity and dynamics and how well they handle high gain. They do everything up through 80’s metal better that anything I’ve tried. They are on a higher plane.
Check ‘em’ out if you are looking for a vintage vibe that handles modern high gain amps.
