NPUD! Motor City Pickups

just got a Motor City Afwayu/2nd Degree Black Belt set delivered

Wade was too busy this month, so they took some extra weeks to be shipped
he was very attentious, declared a low value as I asked (or they would get stuck in the customs for weeks and I'd be charged in 60%) and he also sent me a free Motor City Pickups t-shirt

these are going to replace a BK Nailbomb Camo set in my '73 Les Paul Custom
Nailbombs were awesome but way too aggressive for what I was looking for

actually the pickup fell on the ground right when I took it out of the envelope
I'll take them to my tech friend tomorrow (my guitar is pickupless at his house) and try to record something
I'm already thinking of another BB set to my other les paul

Your Welcome ; ) Those were my meet and greet shirts I took with me to Namm and had a few extras...Very few. Actually there are only 33 in existance ; 0 I will have some new t-shirts with custom art work in a month or so for sale- Again, limited. I'm kinda weird about my artwork and I assure you, these will be a trip!!LOL. Good times Brother Eric

the customs opened the envelope, but it was well packed and I didn't notice anything irregular
it slipped off my hands right when I took it out
I already bent it back

my friend is at college today, so I won't play them till tomorrow
If I had any solder left, I'd be installing them in my jap LP right now

I am assuming you have a Soultion. Tell me about your experience with it. I will be playing it with a Fortin Cali mod JCM800. Sounds like it will fit well.

I have the entire Extreme line, Hell Baby, Solution and Nuke.

Im feeling lazy so Ill quote myself from some other threads here.

solution vs Hellbaby

Both are equally aggressive and powerful.

the hell baby is very clear in its delivery. fat bottom end, snarly mids, sparkly highs.

the solution on the other hand is more ragged and harsh in its delivery. tighter bottom end, pissed off crunchy mids and highs.

I have only used the Alnico 5 magnets and all mine have covers.


Nuke

The Nuke slams the input hard. HUGE bottom end, low mid focused rather than high, sharp pronounced highs.

The nuke doesn't clean up as well as the other two when rolled off on the volume, the solution rolls off very nicely and the Hell Baby rolls off amazingly, enough that when I use it I don't bother with the clean channel.

I have an Alnico 5 magnet not the stock ceramic.

I was just kidding around about an old thread. (I'm sure you guys remember the "damaged floyd block" guy) I would never doubt Wade's service in any way, including the packing of his products. Just having a little fun.

already sold them to a friend
anyway, shipping it from S. America to USA would make it more expensive than buying a new one from UK

didn't post impressions yet cause I only played them very briefly and only though my modded JMP and a crappy 1x12, and anything through that can't change a lot

only thing I can tell yet is that the Afwayu is MUCH middier than the Nailbomb, but seems to be as tight and loud
I'll try them at my friend's rig and them write a fair review
