bought these from UK :D
not sure about their dates, but I guess they're around 1977
they have the 444 55 hz bass cone, which I guess is rare for a G12M
I'm gonna pair them with my MG Music 50w Black Dogs (greenback/silverbell clones)

Awesome. I'm rocking a quad of Greenies in my Orange and they destroy with the Chimera.

I would love to hear those. I always prefer the 444 cone over the 1777 cone version, when comparing otherwise identical speakers.

thanks, guys
I'm really curious on how they're going to sound
I only have experience with the reissue greenbacks I had in a Cobra cab and loved them
my black dogs sound pretty good too, but they're more aggressive than greenbacks (lot of breakup for a 50w speaker)
bought the celestions from angel music guitars (london) and I higly recommend them for vintage british stuff at fair prices

Very cool, what amp are you going to use with them?

my Zambelli (my tech/friend/bandmate) modded '77 JMP 50w Mk2 (the mod is a mix of the Bogner Fish Shark and Strato channels with some tweaking to cut noise/fizz, and it has an extra unused tube preamp socket and holes to add a channel or more controls later)

I'm also testing a Zambelli Hyperdrive 50 prototype (the chassis above the marshall in my avatar), which is a custom amp he's building for me, so I borrowed the protoype as hostage until he finishes my own :D
we designed the amp circuit together for over a year, and the prototype already sounds even better than what i had in mind
it is a hot rodded marshall, but one of the lead modes is more like an Ecstasy with a tighter feel, less compression and more open sounding, while the other lead mode is a modern SLO voiced smooth JCM 800, but not as saturated as the other channel
crunch channels are more plexi like, one being british voiced, the other being a semi-clean fat modern plexi
the one he's building for me will be a bit more mid focused and the modern channel will have some revoicing to make it a bit more bitey, like a Diezel mid gain channel or something (I'm trying to get a Tool-type tone from this channel, but it's still too smooth and friendly in the prototype)
the prototype sounds awesome through the MG black dog speakers, so I guess the rola blackbacks will be a good match as well

I can't even describe how it sounds like
the main lead mode is somewhere between most of my favorite bands, like Alice In Chains, Iced Earth, Down and Stone Temple Pilots, but not that saturated as those bands without a boost, unless I crank the gain
it's very quiet and smooth, without that Marshall fizz hair over the notes, but has a very tight response and allows a huge variety of settings to add or smooth high end, keep the lows tight or fat and it also has a depth control
the one he's building for me will also have a sag control and a laney type resonance push pull
it's the loudest 50 watter I've ever played and still sounds awesome at minimum volume settings
ok, I think I talked too much :D

I have a '76 Marshall cab w/original 55hz blackbacks, sounds great!

Pete

the cones are actually quite tight for their age
one is a bit looser than the other (I guess they came from different cabs), but not a lot looser than the G12t75's I took out of my cab
I've seen much looser cones in Eminence speakers that aren't more than 10 years old
