So I traded some gear for a Bogner Uberschall Twin Jet. It was honestly for trade bait for another amplifier... until I feel in love with the damn thing. After some tweaking, I really jived with it. Since it was a used (very clean, but used) amp; new tubes were in order.

I'm not positive if the original Sovteks were tired, or if the JJ's really pair well with this amp.. but DAUM. Major improvement. Have a gig in DFW this weekend. Live recording/videos on sundayish

The TJ is a really cool amp. Like a super-hot rodded 2203 with more of everything. I like cranking the presence, treble, and bass on the lead. It needs some whacky settings to get the tone just right... but wow! When you hit the right spots it's amazing. The "clean" (lower gain) channel kills too.

My 2016 came new with JJ KT88s. They do sound great.

-I had a uber rev. 2 green, but I think I would really like the twin jet a lot more, I can see where the big bottle tone monster's-(KT88's)-would be a perfect fit for an uber, what kinda plate voltage & bias ya getting with the twin Jett?

You're not lying about the wacky settings. I thought the thing was a horrible amp when I got it. I know that every amps different when it comes to settings... but the notion of "set everything at 12 O'clock" and run with it... definitely hasn't been true with my TJ.

I got my hand's on a green one time, and was lucky enough to crank the living shit out of it. To top it off... it had some sort of an in house mod done by mr. bogner himself... FN brootal. I just followed what the TJ manual said, 25MA or as close to it as possible. I'm sure 30-33 MA would sound sweet... but at 25 it's grooving pretty good to my ears.

-sweet!!

-the UBER is one of those amp's I flipped, but look back on thinking, "ya know, I should of tried these speaker's, or done that differently" and I only have 3 of "those amp's" I would like another shot at,..

-I had the matching cab, but it had this dull quality, ive actually found this in a couple BOGNER's, so yeah I could give it more dynamics with an EQ, but anyways, if a TWIN JET fell in my lap at a fair price, I would definitely give it another shot, I know the first thing I would do is fill it with some GOLD LION'S!!!!... I think that alone would be a huge difference.

I think one of the biggest mistakes us guitar players make is taking some basic eq settings with us to every amp we play and forgetting to adjust with our ears instead of our eyes. If bass at 2, gain at 1, Treble and mids at 10 and presence at 9 gives us the sound we want for high gain and it sounds brutal (In a good way) then who cares? I know nobody here would typically use those settings but if they work they work. Always trust your ears over your eyes. No two amps are alike.

Yeah the TJ has the most unusual eq I've ever come across on an amp, but it does sound great when you dial it in.
I've got 6550's in mine. I like the kick in the mids vs kt88's, and I find the high end smoother.
YMMV

Lol. That was my first thought after trying it for the first time. This amp sucks @$$. It's going back. Then started tweaking the controls, a lot... not where you'd normally set them on any other amp... and bam! It sounds killer. Sounds great thru the FL UberKab as well. I don't really feel the need to boost with this amp either which is really cool too.

That was my experience with my Rev Blue as well. Ears vs Eyes goes a long way, I love mine

I've been on a major fucking TJ kick this whole week looking at them for sale everywhere I could find em. Just couldn't shake the Bogner bug, well until the wife gave me that look and said I really hope your not seriously considering buying another amp right now :scared:

na, she's right. In the last six months I've bought one amp, one semi-custom guitar (Which went back;posted a thread about that debacle), and have another guitar on order. The next purchase needs to something she wants. Now I just need to convince her that what she wants is a new fucking amp ;)

One hell of an amp, congrats.

I had the same EQ experience the first time I played one. I thought wow this amp kind of sucks but then a forum buddy brought his over and showed me how to dial it in and was floored.

Killer amp.

I own a Rev 2 now and probably wouldn't trade for a TJ but I'd still love to have one.

I've been trying to find the right way to explain the Mid's on this amp... Its escaping me. Anything past noon on the mid knob goes to what I would consider a subtle "cocked" wah tone. 8.5-11 oclock is this amps sweet spot for mids. Punchy, very tight, and holds together well at volume. Bass is probably at a solid 8 on the 1-10 scale, treble is somewhere between 4-6.

The set up on the eq is completely foreign to me.. but when I look to the other side of the studio at the other guitarists rig.. His eq is damn near identical (rev blue Uberschall). Just how Bogner voices them I guess.

I'm lucky enough to have this thing sitting on a Mills 4x12 with the uber x pattern configuration for speakers. I'm sure the bogner cab is fine, but that Mills is consistently the best cab I've played through. I lost my arse on the trade I did to get the TJ, buuuut it was a means to an end. The amp I wanted to trade into was one that most players would trade for a Tj+ a little dough. All in all, I'm happy with it (thats very hard for my compulsive GAS like nature to get too).

-can't go wrong with that combo!!

-UBER TWIN JET + MILLS 4x12 = FUCKIN BAD ASS-

-congrats man,

Man....I have had to argue about it a few times but I will say it again....For metal, Mills is the best cab ever made.
