Just curious if the newer blue face amps are still a limited run or if this now a standard factory option.

If they are limited how many were made or are planning to be made total?

I've seen a serial # 40 (the slayer amp in the classifieds). When they were launched I remember a post that said there were 25 sets of blue faceplates.

I'm just curious as an original first run owner of one of these amps.

At the moment it seems like because we don´t
get anymore plates with the dark blue anodised
aluminium.

Maybe a dumb question, but is there any difference between the blue version and the standard VH4 other than cosmetics?

There you have it, from the man himself. I've heard so many people say that the Blueface version has slight tweaks to this or that, or that they can hear a difference in some way. Good to set the record straight. Also...I WANT ONE SO BAD!

The changes are to the 2011+ circuit. The bluefaces were the first ones sporting this iteration, but all current production VH4s have these revisions. There was another tweak in ~2007.

They're all wonderful amps though.

Ah, I see. So technically there was a change, but it was not exclusively for the bluefaces. Cool. Not sure what year the VH4 I played was made ('07-08 maybe) but it was an amazing amplifier and I still think about that tone several years later. Gotta get one someday.

mine is serial number 42/55 ? But there are 70 of them?

Mine says "42/18". I don't think it is referencing a ratio. 42 is probably a batch or revision type, and the second number is probably the chronological order that your amp is in reference to year or batch.
