OCD vs. BB preamp

Which do you guys prefer as a boost in front of an amp. I have an OCD and i have a guy who wants to trade me his BB for it. Thing is though ive never had a chance to play one but ive heard only good things about it. What say yall?

don't have either, but have heard plenty of clips. To me it seems as if the BB is a bit more midrangy and nasaly yet clear, as the ocd is more balsy and thick. One might work better with different amps.
 
I think the BB is smoother and the OCD has a little more bite to it. Just think this is only the 3rd reply, only 250 different replies to go :D :lol: :LOL: :lol: :LOL: :lol: :LOL: :lol: :LOL:
 
Had them both. The OCD is long gone. Didn't like that pedal at all. Doesn't mean it won't work for you though.

Love the BB :thumbsup:
 
Id' take the BB. BB is better boosting into a dirty channel, in my opinion.
 
THe OCD has MUCH more bite to it where the BB is really smooth. I have both of them and the BB is pretty much on all the time. If I could only keep one it would be the BB for sure, but the OCD is really nice also. Either way you have a great pedal.
 
What everyone else said. BB is more smooth while OCD has more bite.

I love the BB. its the only overdrive pedal that has lasted more than 6 months on my board. Ive probably had it for 2 years now and still love it.
 
If your interested in having both on your board, check out the Dano Cool Cat Drive. It's a clone of the OCD. Cheap, fairly well built, and sounds very close to the OCD. I've been told the newer version is even closer. I believe someone here did a comparison video, and there was minimal difference IMO. The OCD was a tad bit warmer if I remember correctly. I'm sure you can find the thread.

Might be a good way to go if you want to try the BB, and keep that OCD sound. Could compare the two with the Dano, and pick the one you like the best. Could always buy another OCD if you prefer it, but would rather have the real thing over the Dano.

I can tell you that my next 2 pedals will be the Cool Cat and the Transparent Overdrive (Timmy clone)
 
I use both and like both for different things. I tend to like the BB better for dirtying up a cleaner sound and the OCD for boosting a mid gain to higher gain.

I have the Dano pedal that's the copy of the OCD. I'll sell it to you dirt cheap if you want it.


I've owned both and i still have a BB. I don't need much more gain that what the Fortin Calo mod has so i like the treble and bass controls on the BB.

Another BB fan here, but keep in mind I use mine for boosting a Marshall-esque lead channel. For distorting on its own through a clean channel I preferred the OCD.
