Looking at buying one of these. What say you? Is it going to destroy my tone? It seems pretty amazing.

Why would it destroy your tone?
It's just a True-Bypass looper.

It will only degrade your tone as much as the pedals that you put in the loops.

I think it's an awesome idea and I'd love to have one.

I'd REALLY like something like it...with 4 options before the amp...and 4 options in the loop...

Does anyone make anything like that?

You would have to sacrifice a loop channel, if I am thinking what you are thinking. There is a part in the online manual at the product site that shows such a configuration, where you can separate part for front of the amp, and part for in the loop. This unit looks good to me, too. I was looking at some units by Wobo and Gig Rig, but they were a lot more $$ and had way more features than what I need. See illustration at bottom.

Dude, post a pic and link. Or at the very least a link. I am far too fucking lazy to google it and besides, It will pull up some weird sex toy or someshit if I do. Not too lazy to post here though. :D

I love mine. One of the best purchases I have made in the past few years. The switches are super silent, there is no mechanical "click" when you step on them (even when its not powered on). I decided to go full midi last year and rack my effects and went with a Liquid foot pro. I use the Octaswitch now on my practice board at home. I really like the dip switch idea (also used on the Gig Rig, but as mentioned early these are waaaaaaaay expensive). It is very easy live to change your presets, especially if you have a bad pedal or cable. Just turn the dip switch off that corresponds to the pedal that is noisy or bad and the show goes on seamlessly (this has happened to me). It also has a greatly switchable buffer built in.

WOWOW!!!

I didn't know that! Now I HAVE to have one!

Can you use the presets in the loop section up front if you set the dip's that way? What happens?

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure this works in order of right to left. Patching it in to the amp's FX loop using say loop 4, you are dividing everything in 1-3 to the front, and 5-8 in to the loop, and they are in that right to left order, you can't make loop #1 be third in line, #7 be second, etc. You'd probably have to have something pure midi, and sacrifice the 'true bypass' nature of the loops, to do that. And I don't imagine it would be as affordable.

That's what I was thinking...Carl Martins Combinator...

http://www.carlmartin.com/product_combinator2.htm

and double the price.

Thanks for your help and info! I think you just sold me on one. I've been looking at them for awhile...now I know they'll do what I need.

I don't own one yet, but I am pretty sold on it as well. I've got bigger fish (amps) to fry (buy) first. :D
