https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDHIqs8JXU8 from James Lugo's old taste test.. at the 4:40 mark that old guvnor kicks in and to me it is tonal bliss. Nice and crunchy. The OCD sounds a little softer to my ears. turbo distortion sounds good to.. might be a good alternative but am wondering whether or not the guvnor reissues live up to the originals at all? As reference, I had a BB preamp for a while, found it was more of a compressed saturated feel rather than a nice crunchy boost. What else have you guys liked for gain/crunch which i think is different than gain/compression/saturation where everything gets fatter.

Honestly, I'd never really knew of these stomps till now... But that taste test sounded awesome

sweet, was unaware that they had a kit for this.. thought there was only one for the shredmaster. The differences are subtle but it is interesting to hear them on the vid.

That Guv'nor was/is mine- absolutely love it for that nice open crunch. Haven't had a Shredmaster but had the Drivemaster, which was the successor to the Guv'nor, and the original Guv'nor was definintely better to my ears- less compressed and fizzy.

I really dig the old Guv'nor circuit - great sounding overdrive!

I've had both, the newer one is more gain, but the older one is better gain ;)

I have an orig Shredmaster I'm not using. Hit me up if needed.

I had the original Guv'nor and Drivemaster as well and I totally agree, I preferred the Guv'nor. I should never have sold the Guv'nor.

The Wilson sparkling blue is supposed to be close to the Guv'nor, I like the clips I have heard of it. http://www.wilsoneffects.com/SparklingBlue.html
