Yes, I would agree that upper harmonics ring far less and therefore the pickups have a darker/more direct sound. Idk why you would dump a guitar over a pickup instead of swapping it out but sometimes the guitar just doesn't jive.

Yeah, a 'strat' with a mahogany body and direct mounting is going to work against itself in what a strat seeks to achieve tonally.

Like, not a good start for a strat, build wise unless you didn't really want it to sound like a strat IMO.
