oil bone nuts

Is anyone familiar with oil bone nuts?

I've seen manufacturers offer bone nuts & oil bone nuts?

Is there a tonal difference, stays in tune better etc?

My 3 year old daughter blurted "Salami Girl Juicy Crotch" out from the backseat of the car yesterday.

Needless to say, I was overjoyed. This thread's title kinda sorta in a weird way took me back to yesterday.

The only thing I know about oiling a bone nut is it can be a problem on a guitar with maple fingerboard. It will be difficult for the paint to adhere to the maple when the guitar needs a refret.

I was given this advice from Greg Fryer who did/does Brian May's guitars.
