I am watching The Empire Strikes back and the special effects flat out rule! So much better than the CG Lucas used in the newer movies! That's it!

Nowhere near as cool as the Star Trek TNG epi Time's Arrow where Brent Spiner played both Data and Mark Twain. Ok, no big deal you say. But they were in the same scene, talking to each other!!!

I don't care how cute and lovable Jar Jar Binks was, no way he could pull that off.

I'm watching the Clone Wars Season 1 right now. HUGE Star Wars nerd here. Read all the books/comics, watch CW all the time, play the games. Big fan of the Extended Universe.

C'mon, the model of the Enterprise-D sold at Christie's a few years ago for $500k. You can pick up one of those X-wing fighters for $20 in any model shop.

Are you watching the original or the limited edition box set? The box set has digitally remastered special effects.

Empire is the best of the bunch. CGI killed the new ones. It was so over the top that the story got buried.

I watched the original earlier today and now the Spike has the updated one on it. Even with some of the tweaks George did to the original it still is the shit!

Empire is still the best of the bunch.

I have lost track of how many times I have watched it.

Right on!!

Let me be the first to use this smiley in the thread: :jedi: :force: :jedi: :force: :jedi: :force: :jedi: :force:

I'ma show off my nerd here, and most likely be made fun of.

I have been getting into sparring lately, and might get myself an Ultra Saber.

Were you watching any of the "re-mastered" versions or the original? You have to check out the all-original version. The special effects aren't nearly as "impressive" but I agree-they do "flat out rule!"

Back in 85 I remembered I accidentally fell on my brothers glued together millenium falcon(0,5 meter diameter). He still reminds me of that today. It was a sad day for the Englund-family.

Next Generation is fuckin brilliant. Hell, the new Star Wars movie with Chris Pine is brilliant.

Lucas totally fucked the dog by making those first three chapters into movies. I personally think chapter 1 was the best outta those shitty ones, just cuz I so dislike Gayden Christiansen. He sucks so bad. I don't even remember the last one Revenge of the Sith or whatever it is? Only seen it once and refuse to watch it ever again.

I was flipping between football today and the Spike channel. Watched "A New Hope" and was thinking, they just don't make good movies anymore...although the new Harry Potter was damn good.

The CGi doesn't bother me as much as the bad acting and silly BS Lucas added in. The characters in the new ones are so one dimensional. Seem like Lucas took the worst of the first three, e.g. the Ewoks, and made the next three with that silly crap mixed in, e.g. Jar Jar Sphincter, C3p0 with his stupid cracks, and on and on. Darth Vader was badass in the first three, kind of just an ass in the next three. OK I.m done. You start a geek thread, this is what you get!

In some sad news from that galaxy far, far away... Irvin Kershner, the man who directed "The Empire Strikes Back'' probably the best of all the Star Wars films, passed away this morning. Thoughts and prayers to his family. R.I.P Irvin Kirshner. The Empire could not have struck back without you.
