I can't take it anymore :( everytime I see one of these project guitars I get all warm and fuzzy inside

How much for the total package?? Body, neck, Floyd? can I do a two humbucker guitar w/ a Floyd for under $700??

Thanks

I doubt you can get one w/ paint for under $700. At that point why not just get a new Charvel. The Muzikraft guitars hold about 50% value.
I don't want paint or finish on the neck  and putting it all together would be very self gratifying ;)

If you don't want the body or neck finished, you can make one for a great price.
I went all the way and paid for nitro so it ended up costing over 1K.
But there is no Charvel with my neck specs

on their website -
Bodies ~ $250
Neck (maple/maple w/floyd) ~ $220
Parts from Warmoth ~$250
Pickups - depends on what you want
Finishing supplies ~ $50
Final fret leveling - whatever your tech charges, I've heard ~$150

Add it all up and you are right around $1K.

All said and done, if you put it together, it would cost you about what a new charvel costs. Not the custom shop ones, but the regular ones. So figure about $900. It's not cheap, but it's fun.

I would love to do the same Toneking...i've looked at piecing together a guitar for a long time...and no finish is the way i'd go as well

And you get exactly what you want in terms of neck thickness

Yeah... I didn't finish it either. Just some tru-oil. Looks terrific IMO, I also think it sounds better.

But not tone. What happens if it ends up being a tone turd? While the new Charvels can be tone turds, you can still sell them for your cost. With the homemade parts guitars...you may take a big hit.

I think most people make a mistake when they go crazy and start picking combinations and components that are outside the norm. Then it's crap shoot. If you pick a tried-and-true combination you should be fine. I dunno.. Maybe I'm wrong. But hey, buying a Charvel is alot less hassle.

I have had my Musikraft Charvel copy and my production Charvel for a few days now. The Musikraft kills the Charvel. I love this thing!

I agree....and I got lucky with my black strat that I built. My Charvel flat out kills. The tone the quality etc. People at the ampfest I went to yesterday loved it! :D

I don't think it's so much luck as you know what you're doing, so you made changes to make the guitar better.

I need to play your Charvel! LOL! :D

I loved the JB Jr. in both the Maiden Strats I had, and I love the humbucker version too.

What was the body wood?

Mine is going to cost right around $1100-1200 all put together. I got alder body, birdseye on maple neck with floyd, all gold hardware, aldrich pups, and paint from the guitar reranch applied by me...kinda pricey, but its exactly what I want.

I love the JB aswell... But those pickups just didn't cut it. They were so... Low output and muddy-ish! :scared:

Basswood for the Maiden Strats and alder for the Warmoth/Musikraft.
