Ok what the hell is tuned to 430hz????

So the new bass player said he tunes to 430hz, well that is like a 1/4 step down from A4 440hz so why tune down one 1/4 step for vocals? It is not that much, I heard Pantera may have used that.

Yup that's like what Pantera did, and also i'm sure it's the same on Dokken's 'Under Lock And Key' too.

Lots of bands did that, i'm not sure what the deal is but i guess it sounds a bit bigger overall than standard tuning at 440hz

100 cents = distance between to a tone in a scale and the next so am I just tuning down 10 cents???? 95% of this board can't hear that

It's roughly halfway between A and G#, so about 50 cents lower than A.

I never knew what 430hz was. Bassists and guitarists that I've jammed with over the years were sure to associate 430hz with being tuned 1/2 step down. I didn't know or care. I just tuned to E flat and let them call it whatever they wanted.

After trying to tune -50 cents last night with a floating trem THIS is what I am doing and the bass player can tune to me
