Old School Cool: ART DST-830 Rack

I don't know if any of you remember these but they were the bees knees when they were new. This thing still kicks ass in my opinion. Nope, it's not a Friedman or anything like that but they still sound great and I am having a blast with it. Soon, I will start posting some recordings of a bunch of this gear. I just needed to get my shit together.

A week ago, I traded a Single Rectifier for this rack that kind of got me nostalgic for some of the old rack stuff I used to use. Now that I have had a week to play with these, I am so glad that I did.

I thought they were great! The Peavey 50/50 is a killer power amp!
 
Just ordered another one on ebay. They are cheap and it's always nice to have a backup... plus vintage gear kinda :D
 
I know this is really a non-issue as far as the sound goes, but I could never stand Peavey's overall aesthetic. That being said, they've really made some great sounding gear in the past.
 
Sounds great! A lot of that vintage stuff gets lost in history and it is a shame because there were some great tones in a lot of thos units. I used to have a Sansamp PSA-1 I gigged with and people were always looking for my "stack" on stage. I'd point to the PSA-1 and they would not believe me. :)

Some of that Sansamp stuff is actually pretty cool.
 
dude-I bought one on reverb awhile back and as soon as i plugged it in it started smoking. super bummed, they sound killer. that thing has more death than a graveyard....
 
just found another local with footswitch for 150 obo. not sure if it's the combo or rack unit. same thing....

I am not exactly sure what the difference is between the 80/80 and the 830. They don't have the 80/80 manual on their site. I actually bought 2 of these DST-830. I found another one on Ebay.
 
if i remember correctly and i'm probably wrong, the 830 has an extra crystal setting. i think....other than that-the same....i think....

That is normal. You probably got the Ace Frehley Signature one.
