Just for kicks I tweaked the VH patch I made and posted last week and it's much closer sounding now IMO.
It has a little more juice, gain, definition and pick attack. I don't think I could get ampKit to sound any closer so I'm done.
I panned it hard left and only added reverb in the computer just to the right channel, the left channel was left 'as is' untouched.

Don't mind if I'm playing something wrong or sloppy. :D

click on... ampKit-Old VH Tone (Second Attempt - panned)
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_music.cfm?bandID=475550

Preset is attached.
I used a Wolgang Special guitar with an Apogee Jam input device. Input level was lighting the first yellow light when strumming as hard as I could....it is not a high gain patch for sure.

Using the preset in iPhone or iPad:
Unzip it on your computer then email 'Old VH Tone.ampkit' to yourself as an attachment.
Check your email on your iPad or iPhone, click on it and it should just open up in ampKit as one of your user presets (you will need the Fargen olde 800 amp, juicer compressor, d delay, echology reverb and 4033 mic installed)

Still on the unchained part, damn that sounds fantasic. What is the bridge pickup?

BTW looking for a new nut for your old 565, the B is too low for some odd reason  Still a fav of mine.

Sounds good.

I really liked that sound you got out of that small Traynor amp you posted quite a while back.

Holy crap that sounds awesome!! Much closer, great playing! You walk into a gig with that tone in your ipad, and jaws should hit the floor!

Now, how the hell do I get this on MY Ampkit, assuming I get the proper amps and FX?

Hey Scott, the pickup is just a stock Wolfgang Special bridge pickup.

That's strange about the nut, has it always been like that? I don't remember the nut being a problem.

Much better than the first tone...gotta love that ampkit app and the jam.

Thanks Andy, I updated the first post with 'how to use the preset' info.

Thanks, this ampKit is a great piece of software for the iPad. I tried the iRig input adapter first and returned it as it was total garbage, bad sound and squealing feedback, the Apogee Jam is the way to go.

I tried the other adapters first and yeah...they all suck. Recording with the jam and ampkit is so easy.

Cool, it doesn't work with Safari, but it works if you use a PC to unzip the file. Sweet, now I just have to buy the rip-off priced components.

The Peterson iStroboSoft tuner app is half off right now at $9.99 I know that seems expensive for a tuner app, but it's awesome. I do my guitar intonations with the Peterson.

Don't buy them separately...It's not that much cost grabbing a few amp pack specials. For what it does it's worth it. I have almost every amp, cab, pedal and mic for only $35.00

I have Ampkit+, so I already have a lot of the amps. Just not the new ones. And the Fargen 800 is the only one I would want anyway! $5. I have to also buy an overdrive, and a D-Delay - $8 for both. So, for $12 I can get your Van Halen tone!

Well that's a good deal.
You have an input interface or the guitar?
