I can't believe it!! This badboy is crazy good with tone- It sound like no other, yet can get any shade of marshall out you need- If your a Marshall guy ( you are, wheather you like it or not so shut up!) this is "THE MODUAL" Channel a Is awsome- Alot of different classic tones can be had with adjusting the knobs...The Gain knob works!!! Lots of great tones with a simple turn of the gain knob- 800 tones, SL tones, hotter Super bass tones when you crank the bass and gain...its just stupid good!! Channel B?? super lush tones, just so nice and tight on the lows, and really full throughout the spectrum . Really nice bite on the top end without being harsh- If you don't want that much bite, turn it down (and your probably to old too : ) add some bass, etc ...
Jeff, you are the maddest scientist around other than myself.....Super nice job man..A big thankyou- I'm blown away totally. Your pickups are in the mail....
If there was one modual that can get shades of all the Marshall tones, this one is it....

Agreed 100% here. I'm glad Jeff did this...This was the first "modded module" I was completely happy with. This is THE MARSHALL tone I was always looking for. For me personally, this is the best one out there. Dave F's stuff is good, but the SL2X was more "me" and more where I was wanting. So thanks again Jeff! I appreciate your willingness of dealing w/ me, and my tonal snobbery to make this! :)

whatever I am now to good for you all and will only make snide remarks!

Thanks much guys! Now if I get kudos from everyone regarding the Renegade I will blush!

Jeff, that Dognmoon guys is supposed to post vids here pretty soon.......he was gushing about the Renegade........can't wait man.

Plus I'm actually stoked about the 4x10 cab..........! You think it would rock with the Mod 50? Yes, of course it would, but tell me about it man.

I wish MF would get their stock for 4x10s here soon...I'm SUPER EXCITED to get mine. :)

Can't wait to try the Renegade for sure!!! :) Definitely a killer amp in concept. Can't wait to push my RT2/50 w/ EG5, SL2X, Twin, and BMAN through the 4x10!!! Have an empty Egnater 4x12 at the moment...considering what to do w/ it. I keep going back and forth with it...on what speakers to throw in there..or just sell it. Kinda waiting on the 4x10 to help me decide :)

Meh..if I won't miss my SL2 it kind of implies that 90% of the tone is already there...and that's dangerous...10% is enough for me to miss the old module and probably at the threshold of wanting that tone available...

Eric,

PM me a price for the empty 4x12 if you consider selling. I have a quad of P50's just begging for a box. The thinkg about P50's is, they're great in the VHT cabs, but they're freakin' unbelievable in other, slightly looser cabs.

BTW, I'm excited about the 4x10 too.

JKD, I kind of feel like you...worried I'll miss the SL2. You can always go back.

Do you have an EG3/4? You could use that more like your SL2.....just tweak it some.

I have an SL, a GNR, an EG5, and an EG3/4.

I don't miss my SL2 at all

Yeah...90% of the tone is there...but the 10% that's not there in the SL2 that's present in the SL2X...is the parts that are really missing IMHO. To be a true Marshall IMHO...you need some bite...you need some grit...and it needs to be tighter...*unless you are playing a plexi...then that's a different story*...

The SL2 for me stock was too smooth...too polite...not nasty enough...not "tear your head off" enough. Needs to growl...etc.

The SL2X does all of that.

  I told ya so :D by the way I got your little package

But I thought the whole idea of the SL2 was to have Egnater's take on a Marshall, smoother, less cut your head of high end and upper mids, just a more pleasing tone to the ear. :)
It is like that with a lot of his mods like the Erect - which is why I like that one. But the desire is there to have a more real Recto...so I understand form that standpoint for sure.

If I only had SL2, I might want IT and the SL2X, but since I have the EG3/4, it might make sense to look at the SL2X.

Sorry, I am playing devil's advocate.

If you have both SL2 and SL2X, you will find that the SL2 will start collecting dust. SL2X is better in every way.

That's exactly the point rich...Most of us like Marshalls that have more growl, bite in the upper mids. That's what makes Marshall well..a Marshall. I'm a Marshall guy...and never quite fell in love w/ the stock SL2 because of all of those reasons. The SL2X doesn't have "cut your head off high end" or too much mids at all. It has the right amount of upper mids...which the changes really give it a lot more clarity and presence to it. I personally think the SL2X is MUCH more pleasing to the ear, and fits better in a mix vs the SL2.

If you want smoother...go the EG3/4...and keep it stock. That's the dark / smooth Marshall tone you'd want. If you want more of a true Marshall tone...then the SL2X is key.

Play devil's advocate all you want...but there's a reason why so many of us are modding the SL2 to the SL2X specs...it's just THAT good!!! Just go get it done...and quit the speculation!!!! :)

Ive said it before: I never fell into the flavor of the month module mods in the past, most of which have come and gone rather quickly (and I did play them all).

This one is the real deal.

Big +1 here....I did fall a bit into that hole...and the reason I approached Jeff on this...was everytime being disappointed w/ them after the "honeymoon" period wore off. I've owned the SL2X for a LONG time...with no desire to really change it.
