One guy bought all of Mustaine's guitars

It wasn't like it was a secret that the guitars were going up for sale. Everyone that knew about the guitars all had the same opportunity to buy them. He just happen to hit the buy it now buttons quicker than anyone else. Must be nice.

the guy is trying to convince himself in that video that what he did is so cool, but he is just a flipper! flipping cars probably got to be too big of a pain in the ass, so high end guitars, it is! I wanna hear from one person who got "free studio time" from this guy.

First of all everyone knew about the sale and had a chance to buy them, it's not like he bought them all in the first minute of the sale. In the future this will probably cause a one guitar per customer type policy because of crybabies.

Second thing is, these guitars are not really worth documentening or really memorable in the history of Megadeth/Metal in general. Those would have been the Jacksons he sold in the 2000's. Seriously when buying a rockstar owned guitar you want something that was used extensively, photographed and videod during the prime of their career. These were mostly backups and yes stage used guitars but at an irrelevant time in his career and Megadeth when they were literally playing musical chairs with the members.

I was on Reverb while these were still for sale and could of bought one or two if I wanted to but really didn't care to because none of the guitars were appealing to me let alone historically memorable.

Did he sell some of his old jacksons as well? I'd imagine those would be really demanded.

No Jackson were sold this time around, those are already gone.

Yes almost all the Jacksons were sold back in the early 2000's and those were the "important" historic ones. All these ones were are the Deans which pretty much were never used on any of the albums or videos from the 80's-90's. I see no reason for anyone to get upset on missing out on these.

He has gotten absurd amounts of publicity over this already. This story is posted everywhere on numerous guitar-related sites. I believe it was more about that than anything, and it worked.

He will no doubt get his money back or make a profit, more likely the latter. $40k isn't a bad investment for how much his name and business is being spread around now. Smart move. I don't hate on the guy at all for what he did.

Capitalism, get it? Good...yup - it works like that.

What's the deal with that Jackson in your avatar?
Got more pics?

I don't understand what the big deal is.. If he's got deep pockets, more power to him. I'm with most, however, about the value of these guitars. Deep pockets or not, he overpaid.

if he was going to use them or play them then fine but this is basically the same as ticket scalping. He bought all of them then made a video saying "hey I bought them all look at me" as a publicity stunt before he tries to flip it for stupid prices. If Dave didnt have cancer I doubt this guy would have bought all of them. None of those guitars were iconic guitars from Megadeth's glory days. All these sold out really quick so I doubt he was buying them one at a time he probably just went through as fast as he could adding to his cart. So someone that might have been an actual fan got screwed out of buying one cause some greedy prick. Personally I wouldnt buy any of them but Im sure there might been a lot of people who went to reverb a few minutes too late. Just like when someone buys a bunch of limited editions just to jack up the price. Its kinda like the Martin Shkrelli attitude admittingly to a lesser extent.

Everyone look at me.. I'll buy them and pat myself on the back by making a video of how cool I am..

At the end of the day, Essex had the right to buy them all. Just because you have the right to do something doesn't make doing it cool! Capitalism what the fuck ever... Will be interesting if Dave comments on it!

I wish i would've had the cash for Dave's tobacco Y2KV in 2003. I have never seen another Y2KV in that finish, I have obviously seen the natural wood finish Y2KVs but never another tobacco. I remember the description of his tobacco Y2KV went something like "For all you smokers out there.." Those sold for a lot of money. They were the ones to get in my opinion.

Interestingly enough, i bought a new white Jackson Y2KV with a white head stock from Jason Kae at Drum City Guitarland before Fender bought out Jackson. Talking to Jason soon after Fender bought Jackson, he said the Jackson reps told him that Dave wanted the Jackson Y2KVs back that were in the stores and not sold yet.

Rumor has it Dave's going to Gibson now... There's a pic online of a prototype in progress. Who knows if that is legit?

I just hope he beat his throat cancer!

That was stupidly sold a long time ago. It was a custom order that I bought and sold. I REALLY wish I knew where that one was.

He bought them with the studio's money and will be advertising the guitars for use by band's on their recordings. Part of the purchase is likely a tax right off too because of that. Then he'll eventually flip them and make more money off them.

thats guys a idiot in my opinion he can have them, Mustaine is a tool.

Dude has the money. Free market economy. I think it was a waste IMO. His deal.

I am not a Mustaine fan, but the gold was in his Jacksons, not his Deans. IMMO, YMMV FTW ETC.
