What do you guys think?

As good as the 1960a and b cabs ? I can grab one for 350 in new condition... worth it ? I think i may swap the speakers out for sure..... Just want to hear from anyone who has actually used one... are they made well?

any opinions would totally rock!

I never played one but they seem to get positive reviews from people that I've read. Not a bad price either... :)

That was what I was going to say. If I'm not mistaken, the cab is a little oversized relative to the 1960s. Maybe almost Recto cab sized... But I could be talking out my ass right now.

I think you're right .IIRC its the same size as a 1960TV cab.
I don't know if its plywood or particle board though.

anyone know if its constructed like a 1960? If its cheap particle board i may pass.... Supposed to pick it up tommorow... Not sure yet...any insight would definatly buy you a cold beer from me!!! :D

I've never heard anything but good reviews on them, alot of people prefer them to traditional Marshall cabs, bigger sounding I guess. Would like to try one out myself just out of curiosity.

FWIW, I got to try the Mode 4 amp today..... actually not bad at all, alot better than I expected. I could get alot of killer tones out of it. Nowhere near the P.O.S. that everyone says it is, I've played Tube amps that were worse. I wouldn't give what they were asking new for them, but for $500 or less, definetely if I couldn't find a XXX or 5150 in that price range. Would definetely give Randall a run for their money.

I think Alex Skolnick uses a Mode 4 in Testament, and he's got a pretty good tone.

Also.... Kerry King uses Mode 4 cabs with his JCM 800 heads.

IT really was alot better than I expected, I was expecting total shit... actually better than several amps I've owned.

Im not sure if Marshall is still doing this, but the Mode 4 cabs used to have special OEM Vintage 30's in em that a lot of people like more than regular V30's. Avatar sells them as the Hellatone 60L.

Don't like 1960 cabs but, I totally dig MF280 cabs. I have one.

it will depend on your head,...but if you have a high gain amp,...then the mode four cab is the best marshall option out there (imo)

i tried every cab i could find and it came down to the mode four and the mesa recto...

if i were you i would drag your head and guitar to where ever this cab is and plug n play!!..that should answer all your questions...

let us know what ya went with

good luck
