Any of you guys own, or have owned, a CAA PT100 amp? I'm really gassing for one, and would love to hear some opinions on it. Not really interested in the Suhr version, mostly due to price.

Also, how does the loop work with stomp boxes? I run a Boss delay in the loop.

Thanks!

Great amp that can be had fairly cheap considering and has one of the best loops available IMO if you get the solid state version.

Are there multiple versions of the effects loop?

Yes. The original was tube buffered... then switched to a solid state loop sometime in 2010-2011 if I recall the dates correctly. I've played/owned both... and they both sounded great. No worries.

As for the PT100 amp... it kills. Really great amp. I often regret selling mine. One of the best channel switching amps I've owned. Great classic rock, to '80s metal, and beyond. It also loves a good boost on channels 2/3.

Best clean channel and loop on the market.
When the loop is not engaged it works as a attenuator.
The down side is the channel 2 and 3 are to fizzy and not focused and I couldn't handle with this and sold it.
My Cameron CCV is tight as hell.

I had the PT100. It was a very well made amp I think, and the clean channel sounded really nice. Personally, I could not get along with its higher gain tones, despite all the various shaping options it had available. I was not able to describe precisely what, exactly I didn't love about it, but it didn't work for me. Very possible it could have been user error, or maybe the cabs I was using didn't compliment it or...?

I have its cousin a Classic + and I will say they are VERY speaker dependent. John voiced the amps around the V30 and his Vintage Marshall 4x12. Then they switched to WGS Vet 30's, I have tried all of these and Scumback BM's. My current set of Creamback M's seems to be the right balance for me. The Feedback control alone can make the amp feel and sound completely different, you have to find the sweat spot for your ears. Also I preferred the Maxon OD808 as a boost over the internal boost/ch3..

Oh and tubes too PT's come with all Chinese pre's, they can be way to buzzy, mix it up a bit and the amp will really shine. Currently I have JJ's, Ruby's and Sovtek's in a good mix, much smoother sounding now...
