I have a VH4 and I really want to get a Cameron CCV but I was wondering if anyone here has played them side by side and what are their opinions?

Cameron modded Marshalls count as well since I am thinking about one.

If the Diezel VH4 really holds it own against a CCV I may just save my cash for something else like a Wizard...

I personally don't like the VH4 nearly as much as the Herbert or Camerons. I would highly recommend trying an Elmwood M90. Best of luck.

E mail metalhead. He has a CCV and a HG Jose mod by Cameron. He also has 2 diezels. He can let you know the deal. He is also selling a CCV.

everybody's right so far.

the VH4 will hold it's own against the CCV, they're just deferent critters.

my 2 cents is to try some Tung-sol EL-34B's in your VH4 if you haven't, and get a Fortin.

Yep!!

I have had at least 10 Cameron modded Marshalls. I own a CCV and yes the CCV and the Marshalls do sound different. I like the CCV better. Out of the 10 Cameron modded Marshalls I would say 4 of them were unreal. The others were ok, but nothing to die for. I had a 3 channel one with the HG Jose, Jose and a clean was one of the worst heads I have ever owned. My reason for getting rid of the Marshall mods is I thought these are all older heads and when somthing happens to them who is going to fix them? It's not like we can count on Mark. I know there are other modders out there that can fix it,but if you have a problem with the mod then what?
I just got a Fortin Cali mod yesterday. I have about 5 hours of playtime on it. Yes, I am still in the honeymoon phase and I will not give a final opinion on it until I have it awhile. Lets just say that I think all our worries are over about finding a person that can mod and get a tone as good as Mark. The things I do like better about the Cali are all the options on it are quiet and usable. With the Cameron mods I found when using the push/pulls or the toggle switches it always added to much noise. To the point that I would not use them. The Fortin stuff is quiet as hell and usable.
I would tell you if you can buy a CCV do it. I know there are 2 for sale on this board. If not get yourself a Fortin mod or one of his production amps.
I just want to note that I am not slamming the Cameron stuff. I love it and I always will. Theres just no way to get any of it unless you buy used.
