Anyone use one of these? Any good for 80's and newer metal? It will be going in a Alder body maple neck super strat.

I have this in the bridge of my Shur African mahogany modern & I LOVE it.

Very thick fat rich tone, but tight & articulate. Not your usual high output PU, which sound muddy & woofy.

I agree

I had one in a guitar I bought and quickly replaced it and sold it

Not because I didn't like it, but because I'm an idiot

listen to it recorded before you keep it, personally I thought it sounded very harsh. Going through a Friedman too. Guess it depends on your genre/style , if you play a compressed distortion all the time I guess ok. Swapped out for a WCR. My next guitar comes stock with an Aldrich, interested in hearing that one.

Best pick up suhr makes.

I agree...best all-around pickup they make. I have it in three of the four Suhrs that I own.

That's really odd. Harsh would be the one characteristic that the SSH+ doesn't have, imo.

I run mine through a Mesa Lonestar, Friedman BE, Suhr Badger & a Two Rock CRV3 & it doesn't sound harsh at all. I guess it depends on your treble/presence settings as well.

I'd say thick & rich is more of a description.

This one lets the guitar's tone come through more than the Aldrich, although I dig both well enough not to alter my Suhrs. If the tone was harsh it was the guitar, not the pickup.

I love the SSH+! I have it in all five of my Suhrs, which have alder bodies and 1-piece maple necks.

Rather than start a new post, I grabbed this old thread!

I have an Aldrich in one PRS Singlecut. Love it.

I'm looking at something different for my LP. I want to try the SSH and SSH+.
Anyone compared these two?

I also have a PRS S58 that I'd like to try an SSH.

Music is classic rock, hard rock, grunge/ALT, and some metal.
