Hey Guys,
Picked up this very early Soldano Space Box reverb (Serial #2) and it is being shipped to me this week. I have not heard a Space Box but I was under the impression they were similar to the highly regarded Surf Box from Mike Soldano but used cheaper parts and was for sale at Guitar Center.
This one I am told was one of the first built to the same specs as the Surf Box by Mike himself with the Surf Box guts to include Mercury Magnetics Transformer instead of the much cheaper D'Young on the production units. Also there were originally Mallory TC caps in the filtering supply and 418 caps for the coupleing bypass which were non-electrolytic.
This unit will be going on top of my Soldano SLO NAMM Orange, Got this amp new in 2002. It was the floor model at the NAMM show and is also in the catalog and on the website. I wonder if this SPACE BOX might of been sitting on top of it at that NAMM Show? Being #2 it is possible, kinda cool I guess!
