WTF was I thinking?

I've been playing for 29 years. I think at last count I've owned 28 guitars - I own 10 at present. What I've found over time is that the Strat is the most comfortable guitar for me. I like a slightly thicker neck, and prefer a 1 11/16" nut width. I like larger frets, and a flatter radius. I want a tremolo that will stay in tune, and don't mind more modern appointments. I had a Hamer Daytona years ago that was almost perfect except for the single coil bridge pickup. I think I want a low-output humbucker in the bridge. Fancy woods aren't necessary, I wanted something that would be an absolute workhorse for anything I wanted to do. I have refretted one of my old PRS with SS, and love the way they feel.

So after working with a new guitar shop in town, I ordered, my first custom, a Suhr Classic. I went with the following:

  • Classic body style, 2-piece Alder, Inca Silver, routed for HSH
  • Roasted maple neck, Even C Medium size, Pau Ferro fretboard, clay inlays, heavy Stainless Steel frets, Abalone logo, Locking tuners, standard headstock, nut width - 1 11/16
  • Solid saddle bridge, chrome, non-recessed
  • Electronics - standard 5 way, bridge tone on bottom w/pull for parallel bridge pickup, middle tone shared neck/middle
  • Pickups: Neck: V60LP, Middle: V60LP, Bridge: DSV

It's by far the most I've ever spent on a guitar, but I really can't wait to see how it turns out.
