I'll move this to OT central if required.
Here is our current song list... Up to Mountain song, rest are in the "pot to pick from." I'm kinda looking for some tried N true modern cover ideas. We've got roughly 16 to go to. I'm just not sure SOAD and some others will go over well.

Background, we've been doing the originals only thing for the past two years. I'm not as up on what goes over well "across the board" as I'd like to be and I'm very guilty of choosing songs that would probably tank.

Through Glass - Stone Sour
Good Times,Bad Times - Zep.
Remedy - Seether
Shooting Star - Black Stone Cherry
Control - Puddle of Mudd
We Die Young - AIC
Pyscho - Puddle of Mudd
Anarchy - Megadeth version
Plush - STP
Mob Goes Wild - Clutch
Symphony - Megadeth
Only - Anthrax
Crazy Bitch - BuckCherry
Get Free - The Vines
Too Drunk - BuckCherry
Dead & Bloated - STP
Keep Away - Godsmack
Forever - Papa Roach
Get Stoned - Hinder
Down - STP
Bad Girlfriend - Theory of a Deadman
Fake It - Seether
What a Day - Nonpoint
Stupid Girl - Cold
Straight Out of Line - Godsmack
Stupify - Disturbed
Why I'm Here - Oleander
The Red - Chevelle
Cold - Crossfade
She Builds Quick Machines - Velvet Revolver
Coming Undone - Korn
Cemetary Gates - Pantera
MachineHead - Bush
Mountain Song - Jane's Addiction
================================================== ========
Toxicity /Or\ *Aerials - System of a Down
Bodies - Drowing Pool
Falling Down /or\ *Becoming the Bull - Atreyu
Addicted - Saving Abel
Monkey Wrench - Foo Fighters
Heroes - Shinedown
The Enemy - Godsmack
War Pigs - Sabbath
The Pretender - Foo Fighters
Cochise - Audio Slave
The Day that never comes /or\ *Cyanide - Metallica
Black Sunshine - White Zombie
From Yesterday - 30 Seconds to Mars
Fall to Pieces - Velvet Revolver
Scream - Avenged Sevenfold

Aerials, bodies, and warpigs, will all do well.

Aerials being the weaker, but if you throw it early-mid setish, you should be fine. Its not strong enough to bank on at end of night like Bodies or Warpigs....either of those are gig closers

I must be pretty lame because I don't know half of those bands or songs.

  Im lame because I do know those bands and if I was doing a hard rock cover band I wouldnt play any of them. But then again that band wouldnt get invited back to play because no one would know the covers we did. :D

Thanks so far everyone.

To what extreme do you mean modern rock? I have lots of songs we do and the crowd eats it up.

Radio friendly and "kinda" fit's in with other songs listed. Either way man, lemme know of a few if ya would.

Cool, thanks... damn, gotta look up silvertide. Had the very same BB tune on there, no reaction from the guys so I pulled it... they are also complainin' we dont wanna have too many from the same artist. Scars was denied by the drummer.

Here are just a few that fit the list:

Ain't Going Home - Silvertide
Polyamorous - Breaking Benjamin
Gears Of War - Megadeth
Crackerman - STP
Walkaway - Dropkick Murphys
Scars - Papa Roach
Mudshovel - Staind

Oh yeah the Silvertide... dude, I can see that poppin' a crowd, lots to like in that one.
Yeah, the other guys have tried to fill the drummer in on what's what... I figured I'd really try to dig around for some ideas and then have a talk with him later. He did bring in Bad Girlfriend though, so he's tryin'.

I think you'll like the Silvertide song. My drummer didn't want to play Scars either until I explain it is not about him, it is about the crowd. The women love it........... :D

I always stress to my band that just because we learn a song doesn't mean we are going to play it everytime. It is just great to be able to play a song when someone in the crowd yells it out and you are able to deviate from the set list.
